Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Why aren't they announcing anything. All the other major companies are We work for weasels and managers that couldn't run a sno cone stand.

We work for cowards. Half the managers don't even know the equipment and damn sure don't know how to talk to their employees. The only way they got their was by kissing ass or have a friend.

61967, your part of the few that kept the fishing hooks baited. I am so happy they laid me off. These slumps are not good. good people with bills get sent home to possibly sink. I worked my tail off trying to make Weatherford a better company, but the management never listened. They don't know that there are better ways of doing things than the (weatherford way). Because for the last 20 years they did it some backwater way. When I started, the scrape rate was nearly $300,000.00 in one month. At that point the management should listen to people when they tell them there is a different way to do something. Right now they are the rough out department for the Houma,La plant. I'll file for my unemployment tomorrow, get my severance package, go to work under the table a few days a week, till my garden, drink beer, and enjoy the spring weather. I have nothing bad to say about Weatherford, but they are not the class act organization that they advertise on their Homepage.

I'm glad if you're happy with Weatherford, but it's a little naive to think the management isn't culpable. Accounting "lost" 500 million and the company also had to pay a few hundred million for the fair trade inquiry by the government. That's why they laid off 7,000 people last year.

Loyal, hard working people are going to be losing their jobs. Surely you don't think they're only getting rid of bad apples.

If you truly feel this way then you should leave. For the past 20 years this company has provided my family and I with a decent living. Sure, it has it's ups and downs, but what company doesn't??? The oilfield is experiencing some traumatic times now and it doesn't help if you, and people like you, continue to sour the rest of us with your crappy attitude. Man up, grow up, and deal with it. Weatherford has been good to me and I will defend them and fight for them. Those of us that want to make this company succeed will make it thru this. It's a slump, for crying out loud. We go thru this every few years. Sometimes I think these slumps are good because people like you will jump ship or get laid off and we are left with the people who want to make this company prosper. Soooo, pull up your big boy pants and get to work. Or leave. Nuff said?????
