Otherwise, I wouldn't have moved to Silicon Valley and taken the job with Apple.

Good luck with Apple. I can bet you that 4 years of work there will make you diabetic. You will have no time foe exercise or taking care of your health.
Apple is just as bad. I have friends there. They work their employees harder. Good luck. It's hard to beat the Q. Sorry. It's not the company, maybe it's just your division or department.
There is way too much middle management in support divisions, HR/IT/Learning/Emp Comm/ etc... Most can be let go with no loss of services provided. No need for a non-technical senior director overseeing the work of 5 people...
The Q is already or has been hitting middle management by cutting the many extra benefits of the executive plan. Essentially they are getting the same coverage as a new hire. They truly have lost that connection with their employees. It use to be a company that really cared about their workers under the great Dr. Irwin Jacob. Granted now Q is in a different place business wise but I don't think Dr. IJ would sell his soul in lieu of taking care of his own, the very people that made Q to where it is today.
Amen to that. Glad i got let go as well; i am leaving before the 2/11 date since the opportunity that I found is better than my current job. I'll be getting a little over 6mo of pay while also getting paid just as much at my new job. There is no way the packages will be better in future rounds as the idiot execs realize they need to make more cuts. Good luck to those who are staying on. Cuts will likely start with further reductions in raises and bonuses this spring review cycle, citing difficulties in China and loss of Samsung on the Crapdragon 810
