Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Newspaper reporter seeking interviews

I'm sorry to hear about what's going on with your employment. It's been a brutal few weeks. My name is Ryan Holeywell, and I cover the energy industry for the Houston Chronicle. I am trying to interview Weatherford employees for an article about the layoffs.

I'm seeking interviews with those who've lost their jobs, as well as people still with the company, in all parts of the U.S. You can speak with me anonymously, if you like. I'm mostly trying to write about the personal experiences of employees, as well as how Weatherford has handled this process. Here is a link to the article I wrote about Schlumberger layoffs: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/energy/article/Oil-prices-drop-oil-jobs-take-the-fall-6051547.php?t=32ad89404f5bf4e8a0&cmpid=twitter-premium

I can be reached at ryan.holeywell@chron.com or 713-362-3568 if you're interested in sharing your stories.

Thanks,

Ryan

At our location in the previous 2 years most of those layed off were attitude problems, and their positions were replaced pretty quickly. This year they let go of the temps first (makes sense) about 5-6 that were let go were LIFO (recent hires), one was a major attitude problem, 2 were thrown under the bus by an incompetent manager and nobody ever knew what one of them did, lol.

Just to reiterate -- I can guarantee you 100 percent anonymity, even if you've signed an NDA or other agreement that would preclude you from discussing the situation. I don't reveal my sources to anyone no matter what.

Got laid off today. I guess I could give him a call, but what's the point? He would just have to censor every word I have for my experience with this company. I've seen roadkill treated better than this.

Sorry my post just prior was not complete.. The Executive and HR manager comes into your office to give you the bad news.. While your boss and bosses bos is sitting right across the hall and walk by and smile at you and not say one word... The treatment is horrible.. No notice/warning.. And we are talking about excellent employees being layed off and being told you with is excellent and this has nothing to do with your work habits but solely due to reduction in force due to the oil prices .. Well if that's the case, how could your own boss be so cold as to not even offer a good bye and bossess boss walks by and smiles.. I even said good morning before this happened and was just smiled at .. No response .. It confirms what I have thought all alone and that is managers are unprofessional .. They yell at you and when they realize they were wrong they don't offer an apology but offer an excuse for their behavior .. I have never worked for such an unprofessional group of people in ALL MY LIFE!!!

Hi Ryan, thanks for all that you are doing for the workers. Nobody hears our side of the story and this site is the only place where we can express frustrations with this poorly manged layoffs process and the executive greed that is rampant here while thousands are losing jobs. Thanks again and I hope you find someone who will tell you the truth. Maybe you can help us and tell your readers about this site and how many genuinely frustrated employees we have here. God bless!
