Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Anonymous64060: Regarding Intel. Colleagues of mine are seeing 20% +-5% pay bumps for positions in San Diego.

This is for people that currently have jobs with relevant skills and that are not desperate looking for work, particularly those with skills in connectivity. These people aren't necessarily from QC. I won't name where they are from. But you can guess. Those people's pay are already well above what a comparable position at QC would pay, which everyone knows pays the least out here.

I am the same as anonymous 64078. I turned down an offer from Intel in the Bay Area because maximum they were offering is 3% more. Senior staff engineer, Modem firmware, senior staff in the Bay Area. Intel's benefits and RSU awards are markedly worse than Qualcomm senior staff and no one really wants to go from 5 weeks vacation to 3 weeks unless the rewards are much more. Admittedly, I am not connectivity as I have always worked in cellular. I do not see how they could offer 20% more for an individual contributor position unless the offer is for an engineer to senior engineer title at Qualcomm. That being said, intel's HQ are in Bay Area and there is much more breadth of opportunity at HQ rather than satellite office.

Exactly! I've been saying for a while that our pay lags the industry. Spot on.
