If memory serves me correctly, companies planning mass layoffs may be excused from providing the 60-day notice if they are actively seeking capital or similar investment opportunities. Watch the stock market reports on the various Qualcomm entities. This should give you an idea of how much warning you can expect if the rumors are true.
Bro, do u even tier 1?
No one is stopping any of the child cribbing from hopping over either to Mediatek or Intel. Good luck getting a better deal at either of those two places. Or getting your solutions designed into TIER 1 customer products.
Well Intel modems seem to be on the rise ... a possible destination ?
Is Mediatelk San Diego a good place to work?
Apollo 13 was lowbrow popcorn shit cinema though. And it missed the moon. Mission Accomplished!
I am already in Europe
this is not america, this is thelayoff.com
go back to school and get a phd you lazy american
You can either go work for Mediatek or go up north to Irvine and take 2 hours commute everyday. Looking at how well Mediatek is doing recently, hiring in San Diego might not work out as planned. Now that Broadcom has bailed out of mobile, that might not be as viable. Good job Qualcomm for wiping out competitors and leaving no options for layoff engineers.
any round of layoffs over 50 positions is considered a "mass" layoff
178 is a big loss for San Diego. There are not so many jobs there.
it makes some sense to reduce the headcounts in the bay area (san jose and such) because it's too expensive
QCOM is more like Apollo 13 directed by Ron Howard. It has a few technical glitches then succeeds with its mission.
55522: Just like the Titanic. And remember, in THAT disaster, the survivors were the ones who got off first.
QCOM is still a very good company. Don't listen to all of the doom and gloom naysayers.
sure do your job and everybody else's. with so many people laid off we have to pick up the work load. all is not well. not a good place to work.
Just focus on doing your job, all is well.
Yeah. I agree. I am not looking forward to going back to the office. Too much tension and really low moral and not much productivity going on. People are job hunting.
got a better link?

Hey anonymous 55506.....r u in HR? I think it's time to leave the Q. With the layoffs, low moral and race arguments at Qualcomm the good days are over.
@anonymous 55501 is correct. Original notice was for 600 layoffs. This one is for 1500+.
Feb. 11/2015 is the date the layoffs announced on Dec. 19/2014 take effect. So we already know about this.
