Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Lol, some of the H1-B's are pretty mad too with offshoring

So it's actually kinda of funny. A lot of the H1-B's that I talk to are actually pretty ticked off at the offshoring to overseas offices too?

Why?

Well, most of the H1-B's are very well educated, from the top rank schools overseas that had to fight really really hard to be the best of the best to go to the best schools and to come here to the U.S...Many want to stay in the U.S. and become U.S. citizens...since they like it here better than overseas...

Meanwhile, U.S. companies have decided that even hiring H1-B's is more expensive than just hiring people locally overseas, and paying them 1/3 to 1/2 the wages, even though those folks aren't from the top rank schools/universities....

The irony....

H-1B does not mean that they only went to school abroad. It also includes employees who did go to a US university and paid out of state fees the whole time. Of course they don't want to see their jobs being outsourced. It just limits opportunities in the US for all of us who have invested in expensive education and hard work.
