First step on layoff train has happened - complete hiring freeze.

I heard Doug was personally packing briefcases with cash to give to the minions on their way out. Of course, I was being abducted by aliens and undergoing an anal probe at the time, but trust me! Oh, and Mars is friggin awesome!
I heard some of your managers were going through current employee backgrounds and resumes, sounds like you all are getting ready to announce a big layoff as well, guessing probably 10-20% headcount cut. Guessing they may try to do it before march to keep from paying you your bonuses. Heard all this at a bar so who knows the validity but I would start stacking the cash or reaching out to other companies in better condition if you can. If the next layoff for you is like the last, please know that HR and your supervisor will lie to your face, I saw that first hand. Houston isn't as bad if your in a technical field. I do know that the company will keep contractors over employees just because of how accounting is handled, they look cheaper than standard overhead in the 8-k/10-k's. Best of luck to you all.
Buddy in HSVL said they weren't hiring
Who said that there wouldn't be layoffs? I didn't read that anywhere in the responses. The only thing that I see being pointed out is that the asstweet who said that there was a hiring freeze doesn't actually work at Chesapeake and doesn't know shit about the company.
It's very naive to think layoffs will not occur during this downturn, it's business, and probably not a bad thing, too many unproductive employees, hopefully they include the ineffective supervisors that keep them around as well.
Uh yeah. I asked. Right as we were submitting two new requisitions. Turns out no hiring freeze. Unless we are just posting for slave labor - which I'm pretty sure is still illegal in the state.
Have you asked you manager about this? If you have, please now say you are sorry that you were misinformed about the hiring freeze!
Hated. Past tense, as in you don't work here anymore. Thanks for confirming. Now I can go back to giving a total of zero f***s about what you have to say.
Don't waste efforts on a prayer you stupid f***! You sound like the typical CHK ass licker that walks around with they're head above the clouds. I hated working with people like you even more than I hated what CHK became after Doug arrived.
56820 post pretty much answers the question. If the person was working at Chesapeake, then they wouldn't have written "... there on campus." Would have been "... here on campus" or just "... on campus." Unless the person works in the field, in which case hiring freezes and shifts in personnel are not uncommon as we change focus between plays, production mix, etc. In either case, again, more work and less talking out of your ass and things should work out fine for you.
He/She isn't working that is why they are on here so much complaining and trying to get everyone all upset. Probably got fired for bad attitude and not working. If not, I'm sure it is coming in the near future. Ignorance, stupidity and laziness can only go unnoticed for so long.
Keep in mind, misery loves company. This poor guy is so miserable he wants everyone else to be as miserable as he is. I am praying for you!
Anon56792 and Anon56818: Make sure to apologize to me when you find out that you are in the dark as to what is happening there on campus!
Yeah. I just posted two new requisitions for two new positions - not replacements - without any issues. Maybe more work and less talking out of your ass and things will work out better for you.
Not even close to correct. Continuing to interview and hire weekly.
Just ask your manager...
Who's your source?
