Despicable Schlumberger - The unacceptable face of BIg Blue

I know one 40 year veteran of one of the recent Schlumberger Smith acquisition who was called in to meet HR in the morning and told to sign the release papers and then escorted out of the building. What a humiliation and payback for 40 years of service

He subsequently collapsed when he got home and is still in hospital suffering from a nervous breakdown

Despicable

On the other hand, don't define yourself by your job. At the end of the day, it's only work.

"he was escorted because he had access to private information" so what? he had access to private information during his 40 years of service

You do not treat people who have given their life for a company in this way - of course organizations need to adapt and change to market situations but they do this with respect and integrity otherwise I would not invest a cent in them - what do you think the other employees are doing and thinking when the see this? I don't think they will be giving their all to SLB - what a waste and tactless approach by SLB management

I think I know who you are referring to. The pain is great and it hurts to be shoved out the door. He was escorted because he had access to private information. I am so sorry. when I got the axe I could do whatever cause I was just a minion.

That's how Schlumberger rolls. Their management is as heartless as they come, and they are getting younger and more despicable. They're a fundamentally greedy bunch.
