I’m relatively new to the company and keep reading stuff about high potential employees etc.

Do Hi-Pos know that they are that or can you just infer from roles you get. If you are told are you informed about career objective or other things. Curious as to how this works. Sponsor, mentor, other related things?

The sole purpose of D&S is to ensure that Hipos rather than the most qualified candidate is selected for the best roles. Ranking follows role meaning that your ranking is highly dependent on your role being visible and valued by management. The cycle perpetuates.

I heard some people will always have ratings above VG.
Is it the same as being hipo, or just protected (whatever that means)?
Does that change often? What does one need to do in order to be in that pool?

A former high-flying teammate recently moved into a commercial leader role for Proxxima. I'm not very familiar with the product or its business case - from what I can tell it's meant to be a polymeric replacement for rebar?
What kind of impact can a HiPo make in that business?

So admitting his career was built on luck and being deemed a hipo by senior management early on. If you’re lucky enough to be a chosen one early on, you’ve got it made. Perhaps you started with the right manager over you that was also a high flyer. Or you made a connection with someone by happenstance and they took a liking to you. Guess that’s life.
