Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

1% Raise This Year. Is This Normal?

I received a 1% raise. The lowest raise I have received in my entire career. My performance review was great. Is this normal for everyone else or do they want people to leave voluntarily?

@223 💯 the "people leaders" are truly some of the most ignorant people I have ever encountered in my life. It's like Met deliberately goes out of its way to find/hire/elevate the most least qualified people to lead other people. Truly mind boggling. I do not recommend these place to anyone. Total dumpster fire.

ML - where careers come to stagnate, management ignores you then blames you when convenient to them & raises don't come close to keeping up with inflation. A lose, lose, lose proposition.

@OP need to take from you and give to AVPs and VPs, some who need to pay for their "ketamine and/or ozempic therapy". I see the zombies in the office, we all do.

@1bq I got 'laid off' two months after telling executive leadership where the problems lie. I exceeded expectations two years in a row but because I put the crosshairs on the middle management for all their ineptitude, I was the one pushed out.

I’d start looking for other work asap. I’d say it’s a sign you are about to get laid off. They had given 3 of us bad reviews with no documentation to support and 0 raise and 0 avip we filed complaints with hr and won but the wouldn’t change the reviews or amounts. I filed for retaliation and had it all documented. The otter 2 got fired. I was laid off as my position was removed. Which is and was BS. As they’ve now hired 7 people to try to do what did. lol but it’s the company plan to try to get you to leave as then no severance package. Then they either don’t replace and save money or off shore your job, either way stock price goes up but business suffers. Run. Run fast.

It’s a disgrace that TSA staff are working for free while 'get Met' AVPs collect checks for doing absolutely nothing, and they aren't even trying to hide their laziness.

Depends. If you're in GTO in Cary, you "might" get 2%. If you k1ss @zz to WA and FS, you might get 3% but don't count on it.

I used to get better raises working for a nonprofit. And those weren't good raises.

This is the sad Met reality. Even with a good rating you can still be given a low raise. As said before, they take from one to give to another. Indiana residents stick together to stuff their pockets. Good luck if you’re not one of them.

@OP Yes, totally normal, especially in RIS where they exceeded their sales plan last year by 183%. They really are that tone deaf and self absorbed. They took from you (and others) to pay their favorites more. That's the business model, year after year.
