Management hold a toolbox talk telling us that there is 10 million dollars worth of backlog work in the yard. Two days later they tell us that 88 guys are to be made redundant. What a shower of cocks. Useless cowardly management on massive salaries. It's them that should be hit, nae us.
It's a p**s take that trainees are being used to do a qualified persons job
The company has made billions of the back of its people and this is how it treats its people. why are no managers or leads in the redundency figures ? Why do managers still get company cars when they don't need them, why are service hands coming from South Africa to do work in the north sea, these are all questions which need asking at consultation time
They paid off all the trainee service engineers last year but this year the South African trainee engineers have been working in the North Sea but there's no work for engineers we keep getting told. I hope they are all cyber based or maybe they don't know until redundancy time.

Our bonus was nothing to write home about, certainly not as much as some have made out. I am assuming that the shop floor guys would just have handed it back? Yeah right!!
Excellent point about the electrical service engineers, everything needs to be done fairly.
I think the reduction in onshore and offshore bonuses may push people to leave. People could probably earn more money working in a job that is permanently onshore.
I don't think anyone is arguing on here I think people are trying to make everyone aware of their situation so that it's something for everyone to consider and it may be helpful to their fellow workers.
Hold the managers to account and if you feel you have been selected and made redundant incorrectly then take them for unfair dismissal. They have to be able to justify there decision. It's not a time to argue with each other it's time to pull together against them.

The Service Managers relocated to Dundee 2 years ago from Montrose. In this present climate of job cuts it must be more cost effective to relocate back to Montrose thus saving the company money.
Very strange how the electrical service engineers who are all called the same on their contracts have been separated into different groups this time. Just because someone has been on a cyber base course they are safe and yet no one informed any of the electrical service engineers which group they were in. Surely if the electrical service engineers have had their job titles changed they should have been informed of this because isn't this a change of job. Maybe some electrical service engineers wouldn't have applied for the position if they were informed at the time there were two different groups, it seems they have been purposely misled. The engineers should have been informed of the change in their roles but hey managers can do anything they like forget the legality of the situation.

Couple of the managers are ok, have shown they care about their departments, shame they are in minority. Majority are w*nkers, they use others to climb the corporate ladder, well guess what, higher you are, harder you'll fall including the laughing buffoon, the way he laughed and joked at meeting was shocking. Buffalo Bill, f'ing cowboy, one of these days he'll fall off his ladder and the sooner the better, maybe then we'll get some proper leadership, shame it will be too late for most of us.

At least the rig systems workshop manager will be safe, smiling and laughing at announcement to inform staff that their livelihoods are about to be ripped away from them, people with young families.
