Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg was joined by Verizon team members on Monday to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, celebrating the company’s founding. Verizon was formed 25 years ago through the merger of two NYSE-listed companies: Bell Atlantic and GTE.
The carrier formed on June 30, 2000, and began trading on the NYSE on July 3 of that year. Verizon was the first in the world to offer 5G and 5G mobile edge compute, and now offers the solutions to enterprises, governments and other firms around the world.
