@ad all over the globe
@eq Opentext aren't loaning billions of dollars in a circular economy to keep business, our revenue is genuine revenue
Forget about lucent and move on
@ad It appears to be wider than just US-based employees, though the connection is that the people I know of so far work for US-based product teams.
@ep Age and guile will beat youth and skill every time.
How many E-Teamers here are under 50? The ones steering the doomed ship, that is.
Here's yet another pertinent LU analogy; I wasn't hired by LU. They wanted to get into data networking, so they assimilated the cutting edge company I worked for and ruined it, OT style. There is literally nothing new under the sun. OT isn't doing anything that hasn't happened in the past. They are only doing it worse.
Build up cash, start looking now. Within a year, OT will either be toast, or a non-entity.
Those with ears ought to hear.
@em you were around when excel came out, lol
You will prob get cut as you are old
@ej HaHA...This is where I do my Hub McCann talk from "Second Hand Lion".
I've been working with cutting edge tech long before you were a tickle in yer mama's loins. Not only do I know excel, I've used it since it came out. I've been on the top of every tech wave my whole career. Yet, I never had to deal with ancient obsolete tech (unless U was replacing it) until the OT borg assimilated my company and ruined it.
Lucent analogies are pertinent because they are a classic example of what happens to a bloated corporation with old, yesterday's tech, run by useless bland functionaries and seat warmers lining their pockets and saving their piece of the action.
FWIW When Lucent was at the same phase OT is now, within a year it collapsed.
Those with eyes ought to see.
@ef we have heard all these lucent stories from the 90s many times
The guy is a dinosaur, prob can't even use excel and will prob get cut before the week is out
@ee Only an id--t child like you would refuse to attempt to understand lessons from experience offered by your betters.
@e9 give it a rest with the lucent stories man. You are obviously a dinosaur, of mo value to the company and should have been cut
I had a team call today where the director finally admitted that OT was indeed culling the herd, and our group would be affected, but those on the call weren't going to be part of it.
This is the only company that I've ever worked that your manager wouldn't give some inside information, if nothing more than to soften the blow. Before we were purchased, my direct report, a VP, would tell us managers that the company was going to spill blood and either our team was OK (we all were revenue generators) or that each group would have to offer up one head. He-l, even at Lucent, my boss told me a month in advance that I would more than likely be cut. I thought Lucent was cruel, because they'd say an FMP (force management plan) would happen on this day, be by your phone for the yay or nay call. I went through six of those. Very stressful. But nothing like here.
Having been given a stay of execution, I'll be using the time to exit stage left. Good luck to those souls who's world was rocked this week.
Can see a few posts on LinkedIn with people #OpenToWork in the last couple of hours, so looks to be true
My few friends got laid off today. I got laid off three months ago. Opentext waterloo
@OP any way to tell if they are targeting US roles for layoffs? Everyone I know who got let go from the partner org was American. All the Canadian, EMEA, APJ staff were spared.
Why is it always the ones that shouldn't leave that get laid off? Meanwhile there are others who clearly SHOULD be laid off and don't!
@a2 Not OP. 4 support roles from Provo that I know about so far. None remote. HTH
Yes, today is WFR notifications for individual contributors in sales and sales supporting roles. Then, two additional waves after SKO through Oct/Nov to right size all other orgs.
Was it because. You don't know how to write?
@OP What is your location?
Sorry to hear and good luck. Are you in sales?
