Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

You're just a number in a spreadsheet

Even though I could be bitter and angry because I was let go, I'm not. I guess it's business after all and if that's how they want to run the company then whatever.

I am however quite shocked to be honest around the whole exit experience. I mean I knew from before that Dell doesn't really care, but the very fact that I've multiple times had to fight HR on things that were agreed on and they tried to gaslight me into thinking that I am wrong (although documents and agreements clearly says otherwise) just leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth.

Icing on the cake was when I handed in the equipment. Years ago whenever somebody left the company for whatever reason there used to be coffee, cake, somebody thanking the person and some parting gift. Now? Just handed over the equipment at the reception, not even a goodbye. Well over a decade at the company? No one cares.

@bv the only people that should wait for a wfr are those outside the US in a country with labor laws far more favorable to employees. In the US Dell will just f-k with u they don't give a mothaforking dingle Berry about you. Those in the US need to leave if they don't like it unfortunately just take the time while you have it to find a job somewhere else. I did, sure I have to learn all new systems but I would have had to do that at Dell due to ODW anyway. If they cared you'd have an ESPP. You don't. They don't give a GDF so f-k em

@OP Dell doesn't give a shiiitt. Why should any employee??

We're all doing the absolute minimum, collecting a paycheck, and waiting for the next inevitable WFR.

This company is a tu-d going round and round in the toilet.

ISG here, long gave up caring about anything, its essentially just a pay check now. As you stated, we are just numbers. We had a guy out for a while due to a family member being realy sick. First day back after that time off and our managers first interaction with him, was "can you take that SR from the queue to save SLA".. Not how are you, not i hope everything is good, take your time to settle back in. Just zero emotion, empathy, or anything like that. It told us all we need to know about Dell.

@ak "Well over a decade", but yes, you are of course right, they don't have to do anything like that.

I do believe that it says a lot about a company when it comes to what they don't have to do and what they actually do, and especially how they treat both new hires and people leaving though.

Dell used to be fairly good at both, especially the latter. These days there's little to no training for new hires and an email at best when a colleague leaves. Employees are no longer people, they are just resources and numbers in spreadsheets.

To be honest I would probably had said thanks but no thanks if they asked if I wanted to have a cake, coffee and speeches, since it's not my style. I did however maybe expect more than being treated like the UPS guy (to be fair, he probably gets a better treatment).

if you want to help people then details on the following should be provided:

"had to fight HR on things that were agreed on and they tried to gaslight me into thinking that I am wrong (although documents and agreements clearly says otherwise) "
