Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Janitors laid off too?

Anyone else who has been required to come in lately notice how nasty the work spaces have gotten? In building 2 the break room is filled with dishes covered in days old food and the fridge smells like mold.

Desks are all strewn with trash and none of the computer peripherals work.

Bathroom smells like a babies diaper.

My college dorm was cleaner than this, anyone have any idea if they laid off the cleaning staff too?

Literally by the end of day in the bathroom sometimes half of the toilets have "stuff" in them. They are not clogged people just don't flush. I'm dead serious it's awful

Welcome to New India, this is the office workspace in big 2025.

@ab there is a nightly janitorial service for the breakroom garbage and bathroom service. The bathrooms have someone come by at least once a day (seems to be early to mid-afternoon). But they do not have people circling cubes at night nor hovering the breakrooms or restrooms every few hours.

I can only speak to the UHG/Optum campus in Minnesota. Not the UHC MN campus or the ones on the East Coast.

Wait they straight up cancelled the janitorial contract completely? Lmfao. So no one is even cleaning the shared spaces at all?

They did cancel the janitorial contract. The break room WILL smell like a sewer by end of day. If there are ANY cubes by you with garbage cans grab them and put them somewhere before RTO. Those are NEVER checked anymore. I mean EVER.

The conditions at HQ make me wonder if the plan is to sell off the building or something. Water leaks in the ceiling? Put a bucket under it. And the smell of trash everywhere all the time…

To anyone thinking this is an exaggeration, you will be gulping hard when you come back in. Yes, this is what is happening at an F10 company.

@a6 well yeah, I’m not expecting luxury amenities or something. I just want it to be decently clean and have the stuff I need to be able to use two monitors.

It's a workplace not a cruise ship. Give me the internet, a phone and a bathroom and I'm good.

@a2 gross. I’m dreading it.

Last time I was in office was 2019 and I remember trash at desks was emptied daily and the bathrooms were cleaned often.

I truly cannot imagine going back into the building 4 days a week and having to deal with all the people, noises, smells, etc. I’ve loved working at home and this is going to be such a rude reality check.

The desks only have a pair of monitors and a docking station that has a 80% chance of not working with a mac book.

Its full open office, people having calls on full volume, notification pings on speakerphone, and lack of deoderant galore.

The biggest thing though is the trash. Seems like it just piles up days on end and no one is collecting it and taking it to the dumpster

@OP I’m on the list of people to return to office on 10/20 and was wondering how clean things would be. There’s going to be so many more people in the office soon, I hope they hired more janitorial staff. Probably not knowing this place.

What’s all at the desks? I’m hoping for a docking station and two monitors at the very least. I was told to bring a mouse and keyboard which seems ridiculous
