Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is this the largest single-day layoff in Verizon's history?

I can't remember of anything worse, but I haven't been here that long.

@a6 as a percentage of total employees, it wasn't the largest. In 2015, we had 177,000+. Almost twice what we have now.

2015 saw nationwide layoffs as regions were eliminated. I was part of that axe. We were all in office at that point and you had to watch as your teammates were called in, one by one, and came out shattered, knowing you were next. It was awful.
10 years later, life is so much better. Thinking of everyone impacted.

@a7 There was blood too. During that round they axed everyone at the area level.

@a6 oh yeah I forgot about 2015. I have a folder on my laptop labelled "November 2015 There Will Be Blood"

Nope. 17,500 axed at the end of 2015. This is nothing new despite the fake news trying to sensationalize this round of cuts.

yes, but not THAT much larger. Hans cut over 10k when he came onboard.
