Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hans

So did he quit because he didn’t want to layoff a fifth of the company? 😅

Desperate to bump the stock you get rid of the CEO, blame him for everything, bring in a hatchet man, have him decimate the workforce, come up with some b.s. transition/transformation, do the dirty work, then turn it over to somebody else.

verizon has way bigger issues than overhead. There are too many layers of mgmt, too many in mgmt have zero actual business experience, and after this latest hatchet job the employees left will have to pick up the pieces with the threat of ongoing layoffs hanging over their heads.

VSP'ers were the lucky ones, looking back a lot of us riffers hopefully will feel the same way, although it really su-ks right now.

Peace to all, except for the d-mbasses who made these decisions.

In the CEO world , if you don't get yourself fired every 5-7 years or so, you're missing out on hundreds of millions in parachute money over your career. The best get themselves fired even more frequently.

@a6 agreed. And behind closed doors they used the artic scandal as the scape goat to get rid of him. He had already done a massive rif to CS two years ago and probably wanted to gradually RIF instead of ripping off the bandaid.

Doesn’t mean Hans was a good guy or didn’t su-k but this was 100% a coupe

Yeah…Verizon went from 145k to 100k employees under Hans. You think he had concerns about layoffs?

C’mon man

Better look at his history. He is no friend of working class people.

@a5 short answer. Yes.
This was a coupe… he said no, they said yes.

Did it need to happen, probably.. just not this dramatic…
And should of been cancel outsource and more automation; but at lest have a human on phone; if I need it..

Uhh... CEOs don't quit, they're given the chop.

And as to why is pretty obvious. They don't exactly want to be in a position where they give 13K the axe.

He's likely one of the few employees gone because of performance reasons. The other 13K are gone because of HIS performance.

That's my suspicion. He was very big on voluntary separations.

@OP I’m not convinced Hans had any say in his ‘quitting’. 🤣
