Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Surplus preparation checklist

Goofball from our team was surplussed early in 2025. He's been calling daily this past week asking us if we can reach out to specific support teams for trouble he keeps having with his services.

If you think you may be surplussed

As soon as RTO was announced I needed to find ways to cut costs as RTO was a surprise unnecessary $10k per year. The easiest way was to replace my cell service with T-Mobile. Their offering is less expensive than my employee discount. I’ve actually transitioned my entire extended family over from T to T-Mobile as well. That part was really just to stick it to stinky.

@ed , Leadership?! There’s no such thing here.

Leadership needs to run a sweep to see which employees aren’t using AT&T cell service.

I love my Google fiber and T-Mobile service. Why would I bother switching?

Dropped all of it, as soon as the RTO mandate hit.

Fired ATT a couple of years ago. Mint/Tmo now, after paying exorbitant rates, with "employee" rates.

@ac It's Visible by Verizon. I pay $20 per month for what AT&T wanted $45 for even after the discount. Coverage and bandwidth is better, no overage fees, never even had to talk to a human. I am not making this stuff up, pal. We are in last place for a reason.

@ac Would you rather pay $100 for a fillet or liver? It's not the price that concerns us, it's the coverage and services available! One AT&T retail store I went to was openly discussing the email from Stankey with a customer!

My wireless service is infinitely better now and costs less than half what I was paying as an employee.

GTFO with this nonsense. Half of the 50% discount... quit trolling.

" My wireless service is infinitely better now and costs less than half what I was paying as an employee" Exactly which company did you switch to?

Bro, most of us have already divested ourselves of all AT&T services and stock. There is only one service left that is worth keeping as an employee and that is fiber-to-the-home internet. That is still a deal until you are off payroll but if you are not one of the lucky ones that have it, then turn everything off. My wireless service is infinitely better now and costs less than half what I was paying as an employee. Do not reward this company for treating you like cattle. If you get laid off or retire, call Spectrum or whomever your competing provider is that day and swap out the home internet, too.
