Can you apply to AT&T after being surplussed?

Just curious can you apply to AT&T after being surplussed? Or are the doors likely closed forever from this company. I feel like out off all of the candidates out there you would be best positioned to re-enter AT&T given how much specialized telecommunications knowledge you would have about fiber and wireless.

So now the rumor mill was No Eisp for field now it’s Eisp for entire Titles to get rid of all groups and make 1 universal Trch

So what exactly is going on big giant Eisp for all then for some. Then no Eisp everyone does everyone’s job.Now it’s entire groups titles get surpluses so they can eliminate your title and if you don’t go you become a universal tech.Sorry but they purposely wrote the contract in languages no one would understand with fine printer can’t see possibly invisible!!And I vote No every time to extensions for this reason you can’t tell who sold you out .One giant secret as always the Union can at any time spill some beans but nope fk this place .This prison sentences I committed myself to is almost over

Surplus preparation checklist

Goofball from our team was surplussed early in 2025. He's been calling daily this past week asking us if we can reach out to specific support teams for trouble he keeps having with his services.

If you think you may be surplussed

DISCONTINUE ALL OF YOUR AT&T PRODUCTS!!

Who gives money to the company that fired them?

Brutal truth behind surplus selection

Our L3 shared the 2 part guidance he was given in May for making a surplus recommendation. This was delivered to us as tough-love-don't-be-this-guy kind of advice.

  1. Out of compliance on anything.
    or
  2. Weakest link on a team for 2 consecutive Qtrs.

You will volunteer through your actions. I will no longer choose who leaves.

What options do I have?

I moved across the country from California to Dallas end of last year as part of the FTW effort to keep my job. I was then locked out of my account before Memorial Day, and last week received notice that I am being surplussed.

I’m wondering if as a part of any of these facts I have any legal ground to stand on against the company. Is anyone else in the same boat or have had a similar experience? This feels like totally unfair and targeted treatment.

Disney Distraction

For a company that keeps using the excuse of needing to reduce spending and be tighter with its Financials, this whole AT&T partnering with Disney for Toy Story 5 is asinine considering they just forced whole centers of reps and managers Into virtual / surplus if they dont follow the work. They allege to care about families but only if they can use the caring as a distraction from what they are ACTUALLY doing behind the scenes in trying to force these so called centers of excellence or expertise or whatever they are called. Thus far there have been sweeping firings of ADs at both the Richardson and Mesa locations because of rampant Integrity violations and one of them has both ADs and all of the Managers on FWW write ups..but this is the center of excellence right?...

More to come..

I was two posts in the last week titled "Surplus confirmed" and another on saying "Nothingburger"....and I can confirm it was indeed NOT a nothing burger. In Q1 they axed Amarillo, Grayson, Johnson City and Springfield. This last week they hit Lafayette, Ocean Springs, Lubbock and Little Rock and there are more pending because the intent is to have all of these hubs closed before Q3. ATT loves a good surplussing before or during the Holidays. Its terrible and I pray they find something if they opt not to follow the work (Which most sane folks will NOT do) because not even that is safe.

Update WFH thread

Not sure what all of you people are crying about. To add, converged service rep like myself just takes inbound sales/retention calls all day. One day a week we have a 30 minute meeting and that’s literally it. My friend in Lubbock does the exact same thing but now is permanent WFH as of July because of the surplus. It’s clear that our job does not need to be in office, I would be offline less time if I was conveniently at home. So unless you can answer my question, move. How can I not work from home but he can?

Seeing a shiiiitload of LinkedIn retirements/ Surpluses

Seeing a shiiiitload of LinkedIn retirements/ Surpluses

Quickly losing track of how many LinkedIn posts from now ex-AT&T employees across the board, Retirement or Surplus layoffs. One thing the company will find out soon is how Morale will plummet even Further once the remaining survivors are in a constant state of uncertainty, apathy, disengagement, quiet quitting and throwing each other under the bus to stay on payroll. Just look at other companies that have already done massive cuts and are at historically low morale among employees. Newer employees that can leave will already be eyeing the Exit to get out on their own terms and the older employees will be stuck praying for a buyout— but all will feel like they are next on the chopping block. Good luck getting employees to give a F#CK about the company when they already feel that they are inevitably up next. As more employees lose faith in the future of the company you will also see a wave of Executives sprinting towards the exits cashing out their Stocks, not IF but when…. AT&T is circling down the toilet bowl 💩 🚽

Surplussed (ATS/Legg)

My engineering team was already incredibly lean after various layoffs and departures over the last half a year. I was basically taking on 2 engineer's work and still got the notification today that I was surplussed despite great EOY performance reviews over the last several years. My manager said "it was not due to my performance" and it was "budget related" but honestly I am in shock and don't know what to believe.

I am off payroll in September, which means I have a few months to find a job --which isn't bad I guess. I am disappointed and angry that I have been cut while others around me who do less are still safe.

June 14th layoffs

If you get surplused please post the following info:

Landline or Wireless
Your VP Org
Management or Union
Years of service vs weeks of severance
Did you reject the RTO new location mandate

I'm curious to see if all those claiming union layoffs are correct.

Thank you

Monday Layoff

Monday June 15th shall be surplus announcement for Leg T CWA workers thus VTP will happen with most celebrating joyously as we collect our up to 104 weeks pay per contract laughing our fckng @$$es off! It especially will be fun to forever laugh at the nay-sayers.

AI provided the following:

AT&T is expected to release its official workforce surplus notices on Friday, June 12, 2026, with internal communication and final numbers rolling out through early next week.
Current Notification Timeline Reports from internal managers and ongoing employee discussions indicate the following schedule for this wave of the strategic cost-cutting initiative:
June 12, 2026 (Afternoon): Initial surplus lists and calls are scheduled to be released. Legal and HR will finalize employee rankings based on performance metrics.
June 15, 2026: Under standing Communications Workers of America (CWA) contract terms, third-quarter surplus and layoff declarations traditionally lock in on this date.
June 16, 2026: The first formal wave of notifications is expected to officially launch.
July 1, 2026: Impacted employees are projected to be off the company payroll.
Expected ImpactThis specific reduction is rumored to focus heavily on management, aiming for an estimated 5% reduction in Level 1 Management headcount.
The structural shift is largely driven by ongoing corporate consolidation, real estate footprint downscaling, and operational moves toward regional hubs like Plano, Texas.
Severance and Next Steps: If you are affected by this surplus wave, the standard AT&T severance formula generally offers 1 to 2 weeks of pay per year of service. Represented employees will follow specific union-negotiated severance and placement provisions.

Regarding MFTO

I am asked to relocate to one of the hubs with a forced letter. I asked my management for HQ instead and HR seemed to have okayed it. I never got an updated letter from HR confirming HQ as the new location. Now, I am concerned if HR will pull a surplus on me for not reporting to the right location. Not sure what to do.

San Antonio be prepared…

A lot of rumblings here at the corporate office in Dallas of some mass layoffs hitting San Antonio. Hearing that there is a huge move to a new building out there and AT&T is way over budget. I have no clue what positions are even in San Antonio so be prepared to follow the work if you’re a unionized employee or have your resume updated if you take the surplus package. If it’s for managers which unfortunately get little to no benefits then I would create a Texas Workforce Commission account right now to get ahead of the unemployment benefits that Texas at least has to offer. Mass layoffs are coming June 16th and San Antonio isn’t the only one I’m hearing about but is the one that’s getting talked about the most. Good luck my fellow comrades and fight on!
