Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Feeling defeated, tired and angry…

I really thought centene was a great company when I joined. I thought I had a pretty solid team with great leadership. Only to find out it was all a facade. My leadership still refuses to address this issue with empathy towards the team. The director doesn’t seem to gaf about the team and their well being and neither does any of the leaders under her. They should focus on replacing all of management and irrelevant positions. I need them to hurry up and let me go if that’s what they want to do so I can collect unemployment. I have zero desire to do any work and to top it off, every single teammate is disgruntled leaving all their work for others to do…. Job hunting has been an utter nightmare and staying positive is beginning to take a toll. Sorry for the venting this is just terrible. I’m so disappointed in my leadership team and their lack of concern or empathy for their team.

As a Director of a Corporate team, I can assure you, Leaders my level and below do not know anything!!!! Everything is super hush hush, Mission Simplify this and Mission Simplify that!!! It is very frustrating as a leader to have to tell your staff you don't know anything. Luckily my staff knows I am telling the truth because I told them to please make the best decision for themselves and their family, and not to worry about anything else. Do your job to the best of your ability while you are here, try to have a positive attitude and things will happen the way they are supposed to. I am very disappointed in this company and how they are handling the staff reduction!!! Making someone apply to be let go, and then making them wait more than a month to find out, is unnecessarily cruel!!!! AND Leaders have been told there is an involuntary list for RIF'S as well, but we are not allowed to know who is on it until AFTER the voluntary list process is complete. If you are already on the involuntary list, then you would not have received a voluntary email. BUT if your received a voluntary email, did not accept, and there are not enough people applying for voluntary, then you could still be riffed!!!!!! Make that make sense!!!! Unless you are a VP or above, your decisions or perspective do not matter!!!! Leaders are losing all of their open positions, all staff on PIP's are getting riffed and the Leaders lose those positions permanently. We are being told to replace those staff with vendors, combine workflows under other staff or use CoPilot to find a solution. So basically burn out what little staff we will have left and pray that these effing survey engagement scores won't tank so bad that the Leaders are just fired for failing in leadership!!!!

Same here, feeling just as defeated. Honestly thought I would grow here and possibly retire. I loved it here.
Asked our manager and director countless times for guidance or anything for that matter - only thing they say is they dont know. I am not sure if they are giving me a hint by telling me to update my resume and not make big purchases - but either way - feels pretty cr-ppy.

Hear hear...interviewing is the worst. You want to come out with the REAL answers to what they're asking, but somehow you manage to sp-t out something believable with semi corporate-speak, rather than letting the intrusive thoughts of the truth be told!

"Tell me about a time where you were instrumental in streamlining or changing a process for the better."

Fake Answer: When being the team lead for _ project, I suggested a new way of _ regarding _, which was implemented as SOP from then on. I also created a training module for this, and was commended for my leadership during ___.

REAL Answer: I streamlined WFH, by multitasking work deliverables, while doing laundry, watching YT vids, ripping bonghits, and daydrinking.

"What's your superpower?"

Fake Answer: My ability to see the larger picture, while attending to details with proactive organizational skills, clear communication, and excellent time management.

REAL Answer: Seeing through the BS of lame@ss clowns such as yourself.

"Why did you leave your last job?"

Fake Answer: While I did very well and loved the work itself, there wasn't much opportunity for growth internally, so I'm excited about finding a better fit for that here.

REAL Answer: Because it SU-KED! They overworked and underpaid us, we were micromanaged, most of my coworkers were ridiculous, leadership was clueless or downright psychotic, the overall culture was insane, and things kept illogically changing, always for the worse!

as someone who has been here almost 10 years, I have had both sides of the spectrum. some leaders have been amazing, others a complete nightmare.

the core mission of what Centene does is why many of us choose to work here, despite the negatives.

I am irritated by this whole situation for many different reasons. I am especially annoyed with having to go back on the job hunt, I thought those days were over. I planned to stay with Centene for a long time, but the growth opportunities are going to be limited.

now I have to do interviews and do the bullsh-t, "why do you want to work here?" I have bills to fu--ing pay. let's be real.

@OP
I completely understand and agree. My team just ignores it. I’m ready to go and like you exhausted by searching for a new job and thinking I had found a place I could call home it’s 😭

that is unfortunate. the PLs on my team have acknowledged how much this su-ks and support those choosing to leave.

I’m thankful my PL gets it, ‘cause I’m not doing anything outside of the bare minimum. and the bare minimum is bullsh-t anyway.
