Pittsburgh parking increases - what “layoff” looks like in 2026

Layoffs are bad press, so layoffs are coming in the form of su-king money from you until you have had enough- or simply cannot afford to work here anymore. Parking in Pittsburgh just went up by 50% with no contact person, not posted on my source to allow for questions. It was bad enough they stole 5% of bonuses of lower-income employees to inflate their stock price. What happened to “we understand the parking concerns, we’re trying to help” (Mike? Eric?) … how does raising prices help Pittsburgh’s lack of parking and public transportation options? You’re putting the burden of this company bleeding money onto your employees. Don’t act friendly in the halls and then stab us in the back on paper.

they haven't raised the parking price in at least 10 years, and back then it was a $2 increase. the price IS steep, and too aggressive, but probably catch up. I think Chatham might be lower now, and usually no line early, but later than sleeping in your car.

Still, don't complain since you've been enjoying cheap rates and no increase for 10 to 15 years.

To EW, the showers are leftover from PNC. We had them in all of our buildings (at one time we were in 4 buildings). The gym was in 400, but removed long ago. PNC cared about us.

Interesting cause oriskany had none of these parking issue and a decent parking lot but they chose to close our site. Bny is a sh-t hole. The CEO and all his cronies down coming from GS dont give a sh-t about any of us. They make their 6 figures and big bonuses so they costs and layoffs are nothing to them

Has anyone figured out a way to get laid off and collect a severance package? Mostly people are getting terminated for so called cause “not meeting expectations when you have always had good reviews “ or not meeting your in office quota . I’m so sick of this place and been here too long. I would be the happiest person if they laid me off and paid me severance.

We don’t have any of that in Wilmington. I think there used to be a gym based on the fact that there is a shower and locker room in first floor bathroom or maybe that’s because they pay us so little they know we have to sleep under our desks at night.

@bf the garage is owned by BNY and Alco manages it for BNY.

@an wow, you jacka$$e$ in PGH have some ba--s. In NYC, there is no “deal on parking” or the subway or any other deal. You pay local costs. Gym?, GTFO. Food? Just as expensive in prem as off prem. You’re a bunch of spoiled, petulant children.

@bf I may be wrong but I believe the garage on center and attached to Ross was owned by BNY but managed by Alco Parking however doing a quick google search did not indicate who OWNs that garage. Also this is a 50% increase. What did you get as a raise this year? Let me guess it wasn’t 50%!

@bf the garage is for BNY employees only and people come in before dawn bc they need to get a spot in the cheaper garage. Imagine you have to come in so early to be able to afford parking, and finish sleeping in your car

The garages are not owned by BNY. To be fair, the Ross garage was so much cheaper than the other garages downtown managed by the same company that the place would fill up by 6am and employees would either nap in their cars or leave for the day before lunch.

@an sounds like all things that benefit higher levels… while Pgh is clearly a site for lower- level grunts. “Growth site” does not mean for management… just seats for low levels … and not enough seats at that.

@aq Don’t give Dermie any more ideas! He’s already a diabolical Goldman schizoid! 🥴🤮 He’ll do anything to drive revenue, lower cost and inflict pain on employees to make things difficult and confusing. Pay toilets are self-supporting. In fact that’s where next year’s employee bonus pool is coming from. He may charge premium tools during peak morning traffic time!

@an next management will have goals to increase revenue from the vending machines & premises will install pay toilets.

This is the only place I’ve ever known that appears to look for every opportunity to take money back from its employees. Lunch in the restaurants costs no less than it would in the City, bonuses are deferred into shares, pay rises are underwhelming, the on-site gym is more expensive than local gyms despite limited opening hours, and now parking charges are being introduced. The overall impression is a company that views employee benefits as costs to be recovered rather than investments in its people.
