Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

RIF in Collections

Teammates were let go and replaced by offshore. The gossip was we pay Infosys less $5 per hour for offshore. There's no way onshore can compete.

Time for us to push the politicians to tax offshore work to make it a better business decision to keep jobs here in the US.

The $22 minimum wage a few years ago (2022) was the beginning of a lot of this. It was great for many when it happened, and you’re now seeing the long term consequences. Truist would rather pay $15+ per hour on contract positions with no benefits than pay for full time and all the expenses and headaches that come along with it. Also, Truist has offshored way more than just collections. In other news, you still have people complaining about return to office. So easy to see why companies, and not just Truist, would rather hire offshore. We don’t have to like it, but it makes business sense as to why.
