Good Luck to the slope workers today. It’s sad to watch really. High $$$ consultants were given the reigns. Reminds me of the RLG days. Conoco used to be the common sense operator on the slope. Only hired good people. Those days are gone. We’ve hired some real winners over the last few years (folks that didn’t make the cut at BP and Hilcorp). To top it off, management thought it best to lay people off right before the holidays, and expect a wildly successful winter season with minimal remaining field experience. Good luck to all. Those that are asked to move on, it’s probably for the better.

@b8 yeah but there are a lot of pipelines outside of Alyeska control before PS01. APSC has limited influence over the feeder lines before metering.
didn't we just get a new manager in SCM and brought him all the way there? Funny how we waste money with this hire/fire exercises. I doubt this yields better results than staying the course and keep the experience.
@b8 Slope guy here. It would be bad to have a spill no matter what the reason.
It would bad news to have an oil spill on the North Slope because of this lay-off. Fortunately Alyeska is better run.
ConocoPhillips and the legacy companies have a history of November layoffs. It's all about getting that severance money off the book before the end of the year. But there are some people who will hold out as long as possible to sign their severance letters, which means January if they are due in 60 days, so that it doesn't sc--w up their own income taxes for 2025.
