Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

They don't give a damn about us

Morale is in the gutter due to cuts and leadership couldn't care less. They don't seem to realize that stressed employees aren't productive employees. Or they don't care.

Please take this as it is intended to only offer an explanation and nothing more. The company pays/paid us for a service we perform. They pay/paid us and we did what they ask(ed). Do we assign more importance to ourselves since the hiring interview? Do we allow ourselves to develop Stockholm Syndrome where we shouldn't? It is a job, they are our leadership, our coworkers, our subordinates, etc....Nothing more, not our family not our friends, although we hope they can become our friends. Don't internalize what may happen or has happened. We think if we work hard and do the right thing every time, we are owed something. In reality, the game has changed but we weren't consulted on how to navigate the new paradigm. Think of this as possibly, more than likely, the new norm, for most companies out there. Emphasis should be placed on treating yourself as a saleable item, a widget (if you will), that is on the market with others like you. Some cost more, some less. Some have shinier bells and whistles. You should focus on making yourself the best possible version of you, for yourself, your family, your friends and your community. Sorry if it sounds preachy, I have been through this myself and lots of friends and loved ones....Just trying to offer some perspective to anyone this might help. You may still have a job or you may find yourself in a new, unfamiliar place. Either scenario, you have value and you do matter!

OP, I'm seeing that too. Nobody even comes to the office anymore. I went in on Tuesday (my assigned day), the office was almost empty. This is happening weekly. Are we no longer required to go in office? I believe most people are in hiding or don't even care anymore. My manager doesn't even come in anymore. When I come to the office, I look for my manager and they are no where to be found. Is this happening in your location too?
