Is this really work life balance when the company is mandating covid vaccinations? My philosophy working for this company has always been that I work to live, not live to work. BNY Mellon is my job, not my life. My job doesn't make life decisions for me, I do that. The purpose of working at BNY Mellon is to earn a living so I can provide for myself and my family so I can have a happy life! I talked to too many people at BNY Mellon who clearly think that work IS their life!!! They act like the company OWNS them, and now the company is really taking advantage of that by mandating the vaccine.
Can there really be work life balance if the company is mandating the COVID vaccine? Is the covid vaccine BNY Mellon's choice, or is it my choice? I know that vaccinations are required to serve in our military, is that what I signed up for to work for BNY Mellon?? I don't think so.
What happens if I get the vaccine, or 2 vaccines, and later on down the road the CDC or whomever recommends that I get a 3rd vaccine? Will BNY Mellon mandate that I get the 3rd vaccine? Will they consider me unvaccinated even though I got the other ones? Then what happens? Do they kick me out of the office and tell me to work from home until I get the 3rd vaccine? Do I go on performance improvement plan if I don't get all of the vaccine boosters? They gonna put me on below expectations because I didn't get ALL of the shots? What if one of the shots gets me sick and I wind up in the hospital because of it? Is that work life balance for me to be in the hospital because my employer is requiring vaccination? What happens when I get out of the hospital only to find out that BNY Mellon wants me to take the vaccine again because its recommended by the experts? So basically I got sick for nothing. Is that work life balance? What if the vaccine makes me a COVID long hauler with long term incurable chronic conditions that ill have to live with for the rest of my life? Ill wind up with 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars in medical bills that I wont be able to pay because I can no longer work. Is that work life balance? Is THAT what it means to be a responsible patriotic American whos is doing what society expects in order to protect everyone? Let me ask you: What is the number 1 reason that causes an American citizen to willingly give up their citizenship and move to another country? The answer? Its because of medical bills.
