Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Can there really be work life balance if the company mandates vaccinations???

Is this really work life balance when the company is mandating covid vaccinations? My philosophy working for this company has always been that I work to live, not live to work. BNY Mellon is my job, not my life. My job doesn't make life decisions for me, I do that. The purpose of working at BNY Mellon is to earn a living so I can provide for myself and my family so I can have a happy life! I talked to too many people at BNY Mellon who clearly think that work IS their life!!! They act like the company OWNS them, and now the company is really taking advantage of that by mandating the vaccine.

Can there really be work life balance if the company is mandating the COVID vaccine? Is the covid vaccine BNY Mellon's choice, or is it my choice? I know that vaccinations are required to serve in our military, is that what I signed up for to work for BNY Mellon?? I don't think so.

What happens if I get the vaccine, or 2 vaccines, and later on down the road the CDC or whomever recommends that I get a 3rd vaccine? Will BNY Mellon mandate that I get the 3rd vaccine? Will they consider me unvaccinated even though I got the other ones? Then what happens? Do they kick me out of the office and tell me to work from home until I get the 3rd vaccine? Do I go on performance improvement plan if I don't get all of the vaccine boosters? They gonna put me on below expectations because I didn't get ALL of the shots? What if one of the shots gets me sick and I wind up in the hospital because of it? Is that work life balance for me to be in the hospital because my employer is requiring vaccination? What happens when I get out of the hospital only to find out that BNY Mellon wants me to take the vaccine again because its recommended by the experts? So basically I got sick for nothing. Is that work life balance? What if the vaccine makes me a COVID long hauler with long term incurable chronic conditions that ill have to live with for the rest of my life? Ill wind up with 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars in medical bills that I wont be able to pay because I can no longer work. Is that work life balance? Is THAT what it means to be a responsible patriotic American whos is doing what society expects in order to protect everyone? Let me ask you: What is the number 1 reason that causes an American citizen to willingly give up their citizenship and move to another country? The answer? Its because of medical bills.

The lunacy of these anti-vax posts and comments, and the fact they are not taken down, tells me there IS in fact one company more inept than BNYM ---- it is layoff.com

@31xp Maybe, maybe not. About 5 years ago there was a guy hired on a team within my group...he started on a Monday and was here until Friday when he was let go. Found out he had fudged his college information on his papers. Maybe being thorough about this comes down to HR or the team doing the hiring, i don't know, but at least in this case he didn't get away with it.

There are people all the time that get hired on fake college degrees, or they get their certificate from a degree factory, which is basically the same thing as a fake degree. These people clearly don't have the qualifications or the credentials they say they have, but I sure don't see them getting fired anytime soon. You know why? Its because at BNYM, perception is reality.

@bdk+1cnmuMFP a fake CDC vaccine card will work to get you into a restaurant but if you present it to an employer you're probably going to get fired. An employer can validate the provider info and vaccine lot numbers on the cards to see if they're valid. It's also not a HIPPA violation for the vaccine provider to validate the info you "willingly" supplied.

Every year I can decide if I want to get a flu shot or not, without worrying about disciplinary action from my employer, or needing proof of vaccination for anything. This is all a bunch of bs. The pandemic is already over. Covid 19 is now just another normal bug floating around that will be with us long term. You don't need a covid shot. Its all political hysteria. Its all about power and control while they still have an excuse. Say your prayers and take your vitamins just like Hulk Hogan taught us. That's literally all you have to do to protect yourself from covid.

I have seen more posts about plenty of other places hiring than i can count. Stop complaining about a company forcing anyone to do anything and find another job that is going wfh as the standard or isn't requiring the jab, thats what a lot of people i know are doing including me. Nobody is forcing anyone since we don't have to work here.

It’s no one’s business if I’m vaccinated or not, so I’m gonna buy a fake vaccination card if my employer requires “proof” of anything. Sc--w em. It’s just like the old days when I needed a fake ID to go drinking with my buddies at the bar, only now I need a fake ID to go to work. Oh well, gotta do what I gotta do.

I’m not gonna let people tell me what to do just because I work for them, that’s for sure. They don’t own me.

Is the vax chatter getting old yet? Im not on either side tbh. This is america and we should all have the right to choose. But i also feel businesses have the right to have policies they feel are in their best interest. I may not agree with said policies but once they start taking away rights on any side we have communism. Just my opinion, certainly not factual.

Don't get the vaccine- good luck finding a job somewhere that is not mandating it.

Aren’t these tests that is causing everybody to freak out over people who aren’t actually sick and not showing symptoms the same tests that are being recalled?

Safe & effective if you listen to the propaganda machine. They can’t even determine how long the shot is supposedly EFFECTIVE for… so how do they know it’s safe for you? If you look at VAERS it sure isn’t safe for EVERYONE. Therefore they are now talking about another shot.
The op makes great points.

KEEP drinking the koolaide. Bnym, the govt & pharma has your best interests in mind. (Eye roll)

I think you're being a bit of a drama queen. The vaccines have been proven to be safe and effective. It's certainly your choice not to get vaccinated, just as it is BNY Mellon's choice to terminate your employment for not partaking in the one thing that can get us all back to some degree of normality.
