I got RIFd today...Global Service in Lafayette. I know of 3 others in different locations that also were notified, but don't know how deep the cuts will go. Good luck everyone! I would love to know what the total headcount ends up being. So sad!

@br 2006 or 2007 is when lay offs started regularly. I believe it was 2012 maybe? or maybe 2008 when 30% of sw left crdm. a bloodbath. We walked around looking over the cubes. Those were the days you were called into an office. Omar didn't layoff like we thought he would coming from GE. BUT GEOFF. Now he did Omar right by GE management.

@bk Yes, they do monitor the last 2 days before they deactivate you. They go by the title of the documents on the file/attachment. If they find anything, they ask you to delete it and sign a document confirming it. Go put that printers to good use!

@bk They are absolutely monitoring. If they think you’ve done anything suspect they will contact your manager (not immediately, but eventually) to find out if they should investigate further. If your manager vouches for you, you should be fine and it will end there.

@b9 Is it from your boss? I got one from my boss' boss, and it meant my boss was RIFed. Also, my invite was same day, which may matter and be a different procedure than for RIFs.

Heard Santa Rosa will be closed - 2 year timeline, but they are going to try to shut everything down within a year. Many teams at the site completely laid off. Waiting to see what happens. Grapevine news is that there will be an onsite all-hands tomorrow morning with VP coming onsite.

Wow, I bet many on this thread feel so much better know that MDT is recognizing May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Timely…given the events this week. In that vein, I say to the folks who have been cut, you are amazing. Get some exercise, make a ki-ler meal with wine and then next week dust off the resume and go kick butt.

CAS (don’t know how many) and r&d crm, doesn’t sound like neuro or pelvic health were touched (unconfirmed) it’s pretty widespread. Normal severance package. If you got hit, sleep in tomorrow and enjoy your summer of paid leave.

After over 20 yrs of service in SH/Aortic in Santa Rosa I was laid off this morning. My manager's meeting schedule was completely full with back to back 30 min meetings for the entire day. He was very somber as he read from a prepared script before handing me over to the HR guy. It is what it is and I'm not even mad about it. My level of expertise will be another company's gain and Medtronic's loss. When I was in my early 20's a was given some great advice by someone who was older and wiser than me. He said "Job security is your ability to seek employment." Time for me to go touch some grass and not give a sh-t about anything for a few weeks.
