Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Now this

I work in the US. Remember when we were told RTO is to collaborate with colleagues? Well two of my colleagues were discussing an issue in hindi. I’m guess that’s what it was or maybe it was one of the 20 other Indian languages. It was only a matter of time.

It was never about collaboration. People were too comfortable and the attrition rate was too low, so had to get more to quit.
The obvious example is people who had literally no one from their team working in the same location. Did not matter, get in the office and collaborate on MS Teams.
Liars lie - it is part of the OC job description.

For every fxcking indian there is a displaced American citizen actually qualified and skilled. Not an indian with a puffed up lie for a resume and low skills.

@dh Man, I wish I could hear a pin drop. Where I'm assigned to sit, we have several people with no "indoor voice" and one who likes to chew ice constantly.

Only racists in the comments complaining about everything but the lovely Trump "economy" they helped create. This has made all corporations in America rethink how many employees they really need. Y'all never take responsibility for your actions. You sound like terrible employees anyway. Keep trying to blame brown folks for all your life choices. Just a bunch of racists. You FO and found out. You are vanilla and can only speak English. Poor you.

A colleague overheard her Indian teammates talk in English and complain about a “very bad neighborhood” as mostly only Americans lived in it.

Teamworks always to me was a complete opposite experience of the daily life I had experienced.
On there it's all sunshine and rainbows and collaboration.

But in reality it was aww it's time to go back into the office again. Let's face it nobody wants to be here. People keep to themselves, can hear a pin drop. Dept events never happened like they used to before covid after coming back (Luncheons, all meetings were teams meetings. We all sat in our cubes. Why don't we just stay at home)? It is essentially the same thing just under a different roof.
It's almost as people became afraid of people.

don't know if it's still the case but back in the day WF had primary language policy around English. are you worried about them saying bad things about you behind your back? I've had many Chinese colleagues over the years who I would often overhear talking in Mandarin. when English isn't your native language sometimes it's just easier to discuss things in your native language. now if you were having a group meeting and they weren't speaking English then I might care some, but otherwise, who cares.

@c1 if it's an actual work matter being discussed it should include the team. The implicit work language is English. It has nothing to do with race and all to do with ignoring the local culture and customs and refusing to adhere to them. Have some nuance in your thinking.

I've experienced this at other workplaces. Sometimes they are just chatting about non work things and I have no problem with that not being in English. However, they clearly prefer to form in-groups and exclude others who don't share their culture in the workplace.

Would it have been a problem, though, if, say, two white people had been discussing an issue in say, Italian?Or French?Or German?Or Czhek?Or Polish or Belarussian? Or in English in an accent that onlky those two understood it - say Scottish or Bible Belt US? I'm guessing the answer is a big no?

Are there people who seriously believe the collaboration bullsh-t from the RTO scheme?!!? RTO never has made sense and people should openly laugh at those who believe it does. It was simply designed to see just how much cr-p a person is willing to take before quitting.

Breaking news, they lied. They never cared about collaboration. It was just a scheme to get rid of domestic workers.
