Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Make the tough choices

Layoffs will continue to target citizens. Offshoring will continue to happen to India. Then those same people will be brought back in L1b in 4-5 years back to USA. Make tough choices once you open your own business and hire locally. Change needs to start at a grassroots level, vote for policies which are towards tougher immigration policies. 20 years down, US cities will be worse than Toronto. It is in our hands now.

@OP worse than Toronto? I’m guessing you’ve not travelled outside of your state like so many of you bumpkins. I’ve been to just about every state and most big cities for work in the US and can name only a couple of cities I’d rather live or visit in than Toronto. For a start you don’t have to worry about being shot, mugged or generally abused like you’re worried about in most American cities as soon as you go anywhere near the downtown core. Maybe before you make these kind of statements you should actually know what you’re talking about.

Upgrade your skills so that they become obsolete in 6 months?

Don't upgrade at this point, pivot!

Meta is offering free retraining at their Workforce Academy. Through this academy, they will repurpose tech workers into highly skilled construction workers, with a 4-6 week course, to help build their AI data centers. Those quickly learned skills won't become irrelevant like those of software developers, at least not for the duration of construction.

Get off your butt, out of your office or cubicle, and build a bridge to the future!

Upgrade your skills so that they become obsolete in 6 months? I remember all the politicians talking about the benefits of coding schools. BTW, politicians don't care about their constituents, they are in office to line their pockets.

Lay offs happens with h1bs too.

But just a suggestion, not that you need to take it ,

May be upgrade your skills so Businesses dont have to hire people from outside.

Login at 7Am , do some bs work for 4 hours , 11pm 12 pm is the lunch time. Do same bs for 2 more hour and then its a problem for an h1b to solve. That does not cut it anymore
