Thread regarding Ford layoffs

It's never been this bad

I have enough time with pension.

So, if they offer a package, I will pull the trigger. Going lump sum.

Not bitter. Met some good people at Ford that is the sad part to leave.

I have not seen the morale so low since the late 2000's. There is no trust with upper management. Do not believe anything coming out of Farley's mouth. So next round I will turn in the paperwork. Time to move on with my life.

I have no idea where the company is going? But tired of the lying. If NA is over headcount, then why in he-l are they sending work south of the border to Mexico and Brazil? This is where I have an issue with senior management. A lot of people this is their lively hood. I hope for their sake they make it to their 30yr or 55 years of age mark.

So, Jim... If you read this post... Tell the troops what the real vision is and maybe you will have a much higher take rate for VSSP Packages. Then and only then will you gain back some trust.

They cannot get another job as they don’t have transferable skills

You can live on the floor at the train station. What a stupid company for the last 18 years. Negative sales when you add in recalls. Always hiring a new Bozo to run the place every four years. GM can be stupid, but they do not keep losers around as long. The issue here is the over paid incompetent family.

Initially they may have planned to do only involuntary’s but due to optics they may have decided to roll out selective voluntary’s. The Bloomberg leak has had time to ratchet up the anxiety-

There will be NO packages. If you want to leave with a package, please tell your manager to put your name on the firing list. I already did. I have 28 years and do not want to work for free the next couple of years.

I was an Agency ( highest paid) guy and was laid off during peak Covid May 2020. All the loafers and slackers still enjoyed the ford free umbrella. I pray all that old and aged slackers get laid off this time and give way to youngsters. This company survived for mine than a century and made iconic cars. Let it live you old sh…t.

Unfortunately, where I was the people were really young, just old enough to have been in the 2009 recession. It only changed when I left to a different field.

Word @vzf I came in after one of the major layoffs.
The entire existing staff was hiding information, sabotaging coworkers efforts and backstabbing. The LL6 was the same way.
Fortunately I was able to collaborate with the other new hire and over the course of two years were able to essentially take over all the groups real work while the old timers continued to protect their dwindling and irrelevant turf.
Ford being Ford I am sure the turf protectors will survive this layoff, and the worker bees will not.

Empathy my friend.

Sure, it could be strategic. If that even makes sense for anyone to strategize in such conditions. Anyone using such to have fired a co-worker is someone to worry about. Next opportunity you have a kn--e in your own back lol. They will also hoard information and exclude new hires from participating. Since that's what you do to secure your position. I know because those were the ones left over from when I started. And that's exactly what I had to experience.

Can't tell if you're...

  1. trying to influence others to quit making them feel like they're in good company. the more voluntary leaves, the fewer involuntary forced leaves and better your chances.
  1. ghostlighting yourself in case you're cut. you'll feel less bad cause you told yourself you'd leave anyway.
  1. genuine - but this reads more like you're trying to convince either others or yourself.

Its def. dog eat dog right now. I've had 2 direct reports use their 1 on 1 time with me this past week to instead of talking about their projects they spent the whole time gossiping and pointing out problems with others not contributing on the team.

I went last year. I could see it coming. They were spending too much money on things that don't make the quality or the design of our vehicles better. AM had the right stuff. JH and JM are not even close. You need a CEO with an engineering background.
