Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Chris Leahy's "Building for Growth" email

what a joke, she blames a fast-changing "AI-first world" and the need to "invest in high-return opportunities" for wiping out 700+ jobs, but she forgot to mention who those high returns are actually for.

Just two months ago, CDW’s board authorized a massive $1 BILLION stock buyback expansion and approved yet another heavy cash dividend... all to artificially prop up the stock price for Wall Street (which didn't even work. The company has plenty of capital; they are just choosing to sacrifice the employees who "got them here" to protect corporate profit margins so don't fall for their "aw shucks" Tiny Tim act.

To top it off, while she claims these decisions are "never taken lightly," there isn't a single SEC filing showing that she or any other C-suite executive took a penny of a pay cut (yes, this is all public information). Chris Leahy’s $15 million compensation package (an increase of 20% from the previous year, mind you) remains completely untouched while we get to take 100% of the hit.

@af Yes, as far as I know it was global.

@cs It was suggested that "they" were keeping track of who was using AI, which led to tokenmaxing among some members of my former team. Art, "summaries" that were about as long as the original content, charts that were generated for the sake of generating something. MK has been talking about AI and LLMs since before Covid but apparently he has no idea how to implement it, because nothing about what they've done since launching AI Forward has come across as strategic.

@ck in the spirit of the Olympics we need to make this an international culling!

I was the only person on my team who had grabbed AI by the horns and written multiple agents and cowork skills for our team to use.

I was also the only team member let go.

There isn’t enough impactful AI work going on at CDW to make the difference they are claiming. Most of the organization is stumbling through using it. I’ve seen very little AI usage outside of simple chatbot or document work.

@c1 Chris isn’t the Target chair; she’s the lead independent director. But I suppose all of Target’s struggles and issues make sense now. Maybe she and Liz should jump over to Target and do the same awesome job there that they’ve done here. Don’t forget to take other winners like Chong too!

Chris L is also on the board of Target as the chair (also on the CDW board while being CEO). Activist investors there are now trying to oust her.

Keeping busy ruining multiple large American companies while tanking their stock price and laying off employees and ruining lives.

Take a look at Target's stock price over the last few years. She's real good at making bad decisions. 20 yrs experience my backside.
Go read her bio on Target 🤮

They make her sound like the second coming of Steve Jobs.

Failing multiple companies including ruining her marriage. Great track record.

What a winner. She really "Gets IT"

Sincerely,
Angry Shareholder

Don't worry...all the interns are getting certified in Lean Six Sigma 🤣 and posting on LinkedIn all proud.

CDW under Leahy needs to be a case study in business schools. Liz is terrible too. So many so called leaders have been exposed as frauds.

They also failed their fiduciary duty to investors as you have to purposely try to be this d-mb and tank shares from $255 to $138.

Please buy back more shares and raise dividends because that's the only thing you can do to increase the stock. Everything else just do the opposite of what comes in your pea brains.

Between Chris’ usual copy and paste BS email full of corporate jargon and buzzwords and all the crocodile tears from execs and their “coming together” emails, this company is a joke. I still haven’t quite figured out how these incompetent id--ts keep their jobs, but I have one question for Chris:

Where do I sign up for a job where I can repeatedly fail, miss targets, get lots of perks and rewards, be absolutely terrible at everything, and still get big raises every year? Let me know when you plan to get rid of the latest clown class of SVP hires and I’ll submit my resume!

Check out the fun insider activity.

All weather propping up the stock to sell it off later. But hey, this is a 'tough day' for them, I'm sure! Imagine the hardship of making 5, 10, or more million dollars on buying/selling your own stock. Must be brutal on them!

Chris Leahy’s pay is tied heavily to stock awards and long-term incentive plans that vest on multi-year schedules, while layoffs get justified quarter-to-quarter as “efficiency” or margin protection. Those two things run on completely different clocks, which is exactly why this is so tone-deaf — the CEO’s package reflects performance/retention decisions made a year or more ago, while layoffs are a lever pulled to hit this quarter’s numbers. CDW, the gift that keeps giving…if you are a board member or have a three letter title beginning with C. We’ve completely lost touch with reality.

Leahy has no plan. Never did. And now she’s lost the locker room as well. I left CDW a while ago and my new CEO can dance circles around her. She’s a complete laughing stock and so is the board for allowing this to go on for as long as it has. What a joke.
