Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

No Love for Tenured Employees

Maurice and is cronies no longer care about tenured, experienced employees. From now on there will be no promotional opportunities for supervisors and above of they are not located at a hub site. Even if you have worked for the company for over 20 years, if you live in Marion, you're sc--wed. No promotion for you. Apparently, only employees in hub locations are now qualified to promote. I'm deeply saddened that HCSC has become such a cr-ppy employer and thinks so little of those of us who have dedicated so many years to ensuring the success of this company.

Unless something changed, this is not true. Yes, prior to moving a large portion of the staff to telecommuter, people that were remote due to offices closing around COVID, could not promote AND remain telecommuter UNLESS they were applying to another telecommute role. That wasn’t reasonable since most didn't live near an office (theirs closed). However, this question was specifically asked during the leadership meeting, and Monica confirmed that rule is not the same. The only restriction is if you are a telecommuter applying to a role that in office. If so, then you’d have to adhere to that team/dept. hybrid status.

I would assume this is just related to leadership promotions, if true?

If that is the case, take it as a blessing in disguise. Don’t go the leadership path at this company. It’s thankless, lonely and you essentially sacrifice most of your work life balance to just stay afloat.

@e7 Lateral moves if you are applying to a new remote role. Or moving up.
No different than hybrid roles.

I also heard that unless you are in one of the 5 sites you cannot be promoted. Very disheartening. Hundreds if not thousands of former CIGNA fall into this category. Are lateral moves allowed or are we stuck in our current role?

@az It came directly from a VP and an Exec Director.

@OP where did you hear this from?
I heard HR is figuring out what roles are offered to both remote and in-office. Did not hear anything about management expectations or promotions.
