December Layoff Separation Letter

I know there’s a good bit of you on here that were let go in early December and were sent that BS separation letter to sign. My question is: if we agreed to sign it, that meant we stayed “employed” until March 31st and that would be our last day of employment and can sign up for unemployment on April 1st.

My question is: Since March 31st is our last day of employment, we would receive a final paycheck on April 15th, correct?

@d5 theyve been giving 2 months for each year of service unless you are being terminated and they do some new notice period sh-t and still pay you through a certain time

I just reached out for more time due to speaking with attorney and BNY said 2 months is typical. Since when? I know people last year getting 6 months paid.

@cf so holding money that people need to survive over someones head to ensure they dont get sued. Interesting when they act like they are doing nothing wrong. Just tells you all you need to know about this sh-t whole. Ran by Sc-mbags

@c6 yes. If you sign the letter you are waving your right to sue and to speak to media.

Just out of curiosity, whats in the letter they are insisting you sign to stay employed on their records longer? Is it an agreement to not sue cause thats pretty sc--wed ip to hold over peoples head after doing what they are to thousands of employees

March 31st will be last ordinary course pay. If you sign the separation letter that’s that. If you have been there long term, consider not signing letter and engaging an attorney. They don’t fight back very hard. Most of their attorneys have been axed as well. Can get more out of them easily. They paid me for a year using this approach. If you have been there under 10 years probably not worth pursuing. Whatever the case may be, I wish you and everyone else the best. Unfortunately BNY is over the top unethical at the current time and probably won’t change for a while.

No. The March 31st paycheck covers thru the end of March. We are not paid “in arrears”.
