Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Worked in Pittsburgh: came into the office and left at noon. Finished the day at home. No one said anything. Only one on my team in that location. Did it for 3 years before I left the bank. It’s all BS to make you scared

Well, in Pittsburgh the garage is red and closed by 7am, and open and green by 12pm, what does that tell you? It’s been that way for years. I watch people leave at 11,1130, noon every day for over a year and they still have their job. Weird. All these people saying they’re tracking hours in office…explain that then.

As far as I know, it seems the teams that sit near me that are done at 4-5 PM and can just stop at that time, stay the whole day. Teams that are dependent on various pricing vendors leave at lunch time. For those that don’t understand what this means…. We normally aren’t done till 6:45 PM on a good night. If there’s vendor issues or issues are found late, we are frequently stuck on till 9 PM or even later. There are nights I was stuck in the office till 2 AM prior to 2019. These late nights just happen spur of the moment and are not planned. Not like if you are in tax and you know you have to work late in busy season. We are allowed to go home at lunch because of this. I hope no one brings this up in some meeting like that lady did about badge swipes and suddenly everything was tracked. No other professional company any of my friends work do as much tracking as BNY.

No one is tracking your time in office. Just make sure when you are in you are getting in multiple badge swipes. 1 swipe is an issue. I usually get 4-5, stay 1-2 hours and go back home. No issues. Been doing this for years now.

@er Hello. If you are in HR, can you please explain why your People Team is silent on all issues related to ongoing transformation concerns raised on this website and on PeakOn surveys including RTO, BAH, real estate closures -and consolidations, offshoring, onshoring, HIB hires, movement of job families to Pune, plans to consolidate roles/functions, job/employment/culture and other related concerns. There are many posts shared on this forum dating back several years calling out the Prople Team, EC and Senior leadership for their role in staying silent on all of the issues and concerns. The EC, including your boss, Shannon Hobbs, has maintained a strategy of silence, deflection and maintaining psychological distance vs. addressing the concerns with ethics, empathy, accountability and transparency. What is your response and reaction to all of this? Assume your response is anonymous.

I am in HR. No one is tracking hours unless you swipe in and leave, and most of those people have been fired already. BNY is supposed to be a relaxed atmosphere. Typically, the length of stay is determined by your manager, they can hold your hours against you in your annual review.

It's expected to be 8 hours.. maybe not every day depending on your situation, but HR IS looking at how to enforce people consistently leaving very early that are trending.

They are less concerned about people that are mostly putting in the full day, 6 hours, 7, but are very interested in those that badge in and don't connect, or those that badge in, connect, stay a little while, then leave.

If someone is 4 hours or less daily, they probably care about that.

if they are 6, 7 hours a day, then they care, but not as much.

HR they told me doesn't want to get into splitting hairs, but if they can prove someone is abusing the system, they are going to eventually run out of time.

It's kind of "all over the place". This particular week, I was in the office 7 or 8 hours+ for 5 straight days. But there have been other weeks where I was in the office only 4 or 5 hour or so per day, and did the rest at home. In my group, my manager does not care unless you show up on a report or list, and I never have, so it's been fine.

As a manger with a brain, Its full days so don't listen to the d-mbasses on here. When you get caught, and many have, they will say you didn’t meet and terminate you. Don't give this sh-t hole a reason to do that. They’re already looking to get people how ever they can so they can to avoid paying severance

@b4 - what on earth are you trying to say??? Read what you wrote before you post perhaps? And I certainly don’t have a contract. Not sure that most of us do but recognize that a contract changes things for some.

Unless your work requires to be out of the hours, the full hours of your working day - and before anyone makes up fairytale excuses, it's in writing on various PeopleTeam published resources and failing that and it's in your contract (where you have one and it states that) so you cannot feign ignorance.

I usually stay for four hours and have never heard anything from HR about it.

I see A LOT of people leave early and go back home and log in from the other departments. I am surprised that they get away with that, especially considering some of them have long commutes and are offline 1-2 hours. Just saying.

I don’t know about you, but my Oracle HR record shows 40 hours per week. No mention anywhere of hours per day. So if I do 7 in office one day and 9 at home the next, all good. I don’t know why anyone is hung up on hours per day unless your Oracle record states that.

Depends on your situation and what you are able to get away with. Badge swipes and network times (4hr min) are tracked. There’s a post here about how you can technically extend your wfh days. Just search.
