In short, it's fear of not being able to charge it while away from home (Charging Network). The secons reason is 'short range', having a under 300 mile one-charge operating radius is off-putting for many.
For me it's mostly fear of what to do with the car once the battery stops working. Do I discard the car at that point or do I replace the batter for many thousands of dollars. My dad's 2001 F150 has 220K miles on it and it's still running great.
