#1 Reason People Are Not Buying Electric Cars

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/electric-car-survey-finds-biggest-reason-preventing-people-buying

In short, it's fear of not being able to charge it while away from home (Charging Network). The secons reason is 'short range', having a under 300 mile one-charge operating radius is off-putting for many.

For me it's mostly fear of what to do with the car once the battery stops working. Do I discard the car at that point or do I replace the batter for many thousands of dollars. My dad's 2001 F150 has 220K miles on it and it's still running great.

EV's are mobile timebombs. Once in a wreck, it takes an army of firefighters to put it out, many hours later. Park in your garage, and you might not have a house tomorrow.

EV's are less green than ICE vehicles, regardless the narrative push.

The auto companies are putting the cart before the horse. They are pushing EVs with no definitive infrastructure for them. There are charging stations scattered around but not in convenient designated locations.

I suspect they (auto companies) are waiting for corporate welfare to build that infrastructure or for the local, state and/or federal government to pick up the tab. And of course that means you and I would pay for it regardless of whether we own an EV or not.

@fqv+1hGyRMYd while the tophat itself is made with cheap, flimsy parts, the EVs themselves are NOT lightweight. This is another environmental disaster waiting to happen. Due to the weight of EVs, they will be going through tires yearly, maybe sooner if you drive a lot. Going EV will double tire usage at a minimum.

For me it is simple. ICE vehicles work. And when they have problems, I as a mechanic, can fix a lot of it myself.

Can't say the same for an EV. For this old folk I will be sticking with ICE until I am kaput!

EV's are light weight, so it's all flimsy plastics and seats inside. So once that battery is dead after nominal operating time you buy a new car my friend. That's what it's gonna be for a while until the legislature requires them to be replaceable at which point the industry will make you replace them every few years. Obviously youre gonna save the environment with this at all but likely China is gonna thank you for selling out your car industry to them. Always ask where the resources are from, mined under what conditions, by whom, and where does the battery go afterwards.
