Heard the Chicago office was shutting down and some people were fired, offered severance or told to move to Plano or DC. Any confirmation?

@jm yeah. Told 9 months ago in recruitment that this office would never close but here we are.
968 FTE offsite
97 Chicago
132 Philadelphia
I thought it was more than that but you have to assume that the Philadephia office is next and after that the remote employees.
How many FTEs are there in Chicago office?
@jm I don't think it's anywhere near most departments..many teams are still half remote, not critically skilled, don't need to be on site. Some Chicago people will be converted....plus a lot of execs are still remote and Fannie is hiring positions that say "open to remote." They're just hypocrites scraping and bowing to Pulte to keep their jobs while trying to force people near offices to quit via draconian RTO mandates.
@fx I don't think it is that high anymore, but I could be wrong. Most departments have gotten rid of their remote people or forced them to move back. There are a few areas where people need to be remote as they need to be more "on site", but even a few of those people were let go in last round of layoffs.
…and yet we still have around 1000 remote employees.
I received my notice on a face to face call with my Director AND Sr. Director today. Offered a severance, however my last day is September 18th. I am not shocked and look as this change as a blessing to get away from the toxicity and stress. 33 years and 3 months ~ hopefully my next job I will be appreciated.
@aq leaning the same. Semi worried about the job market, but that pales into comparison with continuing to work this company.
@ap taking the severance and getting out. Seeing this as a blessing in disguise to start fresh elsewhere.
@a2 so did I. What are leaning towards?
@a2 Sorry about. All of this is such bs.
Yes. Got the offer to either move or severance.
