@g9 I've seen more examples involving that group, no doubt. But let's not forget who brought the CIO in before leaving the organization. I've seen the same kind of behavior in other groups too, so this isn't unique to any one of them.

That largest group in TGS seems almost proud of nepotism, as if it's something to celebrate. Hiring someone because they're part of your circle, even when they do not meet skill required for a job is dereliction of duty.

To me, that usually comes from insecurity. People who lack confidence tend to surround themselves with familiar faces and yes-men instead of people who will challenge their thinking. That might make life easier in the short term, but it rarely builds a strong team.

The real irony is that these kids will grow up condemning politicians for nepotism, forgetting that their own parents practiced the same thing and they themselves are product of nepotism.

@OP someone told me that is how Indians operate almost always. Is it an indian thing or do you see this practice among other ethnicities?

@af while that is the unfortunate reality but people with self respect don’t follow that path. OP probably tried to make that point and I fully agree with that. These kids are both shameless and skill less, that is why they have no other way to get a job. And because of this malpractice in all hiring and promotion process, BD has one of the weakest technical team.

In today's world solid connections get you ahead in life. All those C-Suite executives don't get rich being empathetic. They get rich by getting insider trading information from their executive buddies at the country club.
