Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO Resistance Reminder Thread

RTO is pointless at WF. At some other company? Maybe, maybe not. But at Wells, it's nonsensical, and we all know it.

Remember:

  • Never get gas near the office. Always get gas near home.
  • Never buy food or coffee in or near the office, including vending machines. Bring what you need from home.
  • Never spend any extra time in the office. Have hard start and stop times on your in-office days. Decline any meetings outside your basic office hours. Reply as tentative for meetings that overlap your office hours, and let the organizer know you can only stay for the first half, etc.
  • Always save your most productive days for your WFH days. Your in-office time should show the most idle time. After all, we were told collaboration and chit-chat is why we're all forced back in. Can't be productive while having small talk.
  • (others?)

The path to defeating pointless RTO isn't an instant win. It will be a slow roast. The current execs are almost done with their time here because they gotta move on before they are held responsible for some bad action. RTO/WFH is a waiting game, and one that's worth playing.

Did people forget what life was like pre-COVID? Remote work was the exception. And newsflash - the company isn't more productive with more remote workers.

The answer is simple - if you aren't happy, leave. Best of luck to you. When Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, etc are all doing major layoffs in sure you'll have no problem landing new employment.

It's as of people think it is still 2021 when employees held the power and most of the country was shut down. Times have changed.

I can't get gas near my office because I'm likely to be carjacked.

Not all jobs should be either one, that's the point. The POS lazy executives aren't smart enough to differentiate so they just go ham-fisted style and F everything up. There are thousands and thousands of people now being pushed to go to an office for NO reason other than to torment them. It's a waste of money and a failed policy.

Most of the best people already left Wells already. That’s what you do when you have options and the company sucks.

The people here offering ultimatums are the very ones they should’ve been after from the start. I said this from the start. You go on a crash diet, you burn muscle first and are left with a bunch of fat. That’s what Wells did and we are seeing the results of that.

The FRTO minions are such id--ts. They proved that by staying with an organization that cares nothing about them but are delusional enough to think it does. Second, they are more than enough people who will work your job for less pay and PTO than you are currently pulling.

Guess what happens to those who don't buck their employer? They keep their job, get advanced in role to back fill an id--t who fought a losing battle.

Go ahead, stay home 5x a week....please.

The only way to prove you’re a heavy hitter and serious about your career is to put the company before your family. Everyone should be made to come into the office regardless of lifestyle and get that big bag O gold looty loot loot.

hey anti.RTO folks, why not just get a remote job somewhere else? you work for a private employer and likely in a right to work state, either get with the program or go. you may not like it but that isn't going to change anything. also, if you've seen the headlines recently more and more employers are calling their workers back. quit complaining and get to work

@gpp Turn on the camera and then you will be face to face.

“ Always save your most productive days for your WFH days. Your in-office time should show the most idle time.”
This is just silly. How many teams are going to do daily checking of work and then cross-reference against if you are in the office or not. Not one manager i know has the time to put in that effort. If you are getting your stuff done, that’s all they care about.

@gpp Translation: Agile is another failed RTO policy.

What's your next step, saying ITIL requires it?

If Wells is doing agile they will need to RTO. At least for scrum meetings.

While the Scrum Guide does not specify that teams must be co-located, one of the principles of the Agile Manifesto states “The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation.”

So guys get with the program.

I find it amusing people are so worked up about RTO. If their immediate response is no way then I would bet they are the top slackers. People only get so mad about something when they are guilty of cheating the system, lol

What makes Wells different that every single position should be remote? That's just as bad as saying all jobs should be in an office. Some can and some can't.

There's a lot of bootlicking cucks on this board these days. Me thinks the execs are filling their spare time, and they have plenty, by posting here to make it look like their BS is perpetual or relevant. One or two more years and they are gone. Don't care what they have to say, I stopped listening in 2022.

The company will lose, either by losing all their best people or being the lucky recipient of the work product of tanked morale. Their dictates do nothing of relevance and no one cares what they say anymore. It's over for this exec team, time to pull the rip cord on the golden parachute and GTFO.

OP, you think you individually and your views are waaaaay more significant than they are.

To overthrow a "system" you have to have leverage that matters. you have none. you are replaceable. Even "large" numbers of people willing to sacrifice themselves have no leverage in a system as large and well defined as WF.

Your "resistance" is just plain d-mb, and all it will do is hurt you (performance ratings).

Do yourself a favor and move on.

Get another job if you can't live with this one.

OP
Resitance is futile, you will be assimulated

You will eventually lose.

Get real, move on, or quit.
Those are the only choices. Perpetually whining is a losers gambit. Try to focus on a winning(for thyself) strategy. Good luck.

The drama, the drama. A lot of entitlement suggesting an employee has the discretion to choose remote vs RTO. If you are talented enough, valuable enough, you probably aren't working at WF and wouldn't have to complain about RTO in the first place.

If that doesn't offend, do you really think WF cares what you think? They have been letting people go without much analysis. What makes you, still employed, think the executives will suddenly be signing up to play for your team?

Simple solution: accept RTO or seek new employment. It's not personal!

I will lol at those fired for refusing RTO. And how many of you moved and that’s why your crying so hard, about to get busted? I happen to know of a few of you that tried to cheat the system and your number is about to be called!

It is certainly amusing to read OPs like this. Unless its a cleanly written troll, if someone actually believes this will make any difference it teeters deep into the world of comedy.

Everyone is free to hold on to hope that WFH will be rolled back or even held strong at the 2/3 with some teams still being full WFH. But all you need to do is look around at other, large orgs. WF is just a slower adopter of change. Other big-banks had a presence back in office months before us.

It doesn't matter how asinine this choice appears to the workers, it was defined long before COVID hit and will continue to be pushed until fruition. I have seen people get the relocate or be considered as job abandonment actually relo, then get "displaced". If the math works for you to sit here and ride it out hoping for a roll back or severance go for it.
