External hiring during a PIP-off ?!

Have you noticed that the company, particularly LCS, is hiring externally for mid-level positions?

Not that I have anything against external hiring when there is a need, but it's very disappointing to see this happening when there are forced attrition going on. There is a complete lack of transparent mechanism to match people with right skills to open positions. It reeks of nepotism. It also appears that managers who are supposed to be responsible for advocating and growing their people are not doing their jobs.

@jeo+1jlWPFdf how can someone like you who can’t comprehend the idea of a recurring annual event have survived multiple rounds of PIPs?

It's a bit insulting when experienced hires come from companies with worst safety and environmental performance than XOM. Also disturbing when you have to train them for the skills that they were supposed to have.

@fic+1jlWPFdf Where have you been??? The inflated PIP Off has been going on for the last 3 years! This cycle will be the fourth installment!

I had my supervisor suggest to me that I would be a 'candidate' to go into LCS. A week later, that was never to be mentioned again and was scrubbed from the face of the planet.

I guess as soon as someone in LCS saw my CC and ranking, I was immediately deleted from 'applying'. 🤣

with a fairytale position and a climate denier taking lead, you may as well hire externally. might actually improve your credibility. the government should rank XOM at the bottom of the list for contracts. the amount of lobby pressure and abuse against the rest of the country doesn’t exactly project trust in a new business model. just a stupid, dying dinosaur. most of the passionate geos and engineers that want to fix this were laid off and are in new positions at new companies that are far more trustworthy and competent.

To be fair the next PIP-off isn’t until early/mid next year, and for all you know they could be doing Amazon-style hire-to-fire
