@11c From the UK perspective, it’s all jungle drums from Europe. No announcements, no visibility, no transparency — yet we’re lectured endlessly about all three. Until something actually changes, it’s quiet quitting. Same pay, low presence.

@12b are these US or OUS SMEs? I’ve heard of one out of the water group in the US but I am sure there are more that I just haven’t heard yet.

@OP multiple EHS SME’s with “corporate” jobs have been contacting colleagues about being let go without notice. Our regional managers are saying they were not consulted and I believe them. Sad thing is these are not the EHS people that create multi million dollar projects that build job security around sacred cows that they convince legal will matter….

@n5 I heard it’s >500 in EMEA. Some countries know, others don’t yet. Won’t be any company wide announcement.

I was really surprised to see GB in the PA layoff group. @x0

About 5 weeks ago they laid off about 20 people across the teams that were formerly Public Affairs (comms, community impact, etc.). That group was already operating really really lean, but the decision to just scatter the PA teams across the company somewhat arbitrarily, then lay off even more people, really made it clear that bb doesn’t value public image and reputation.

Big layoffs coming, Europe has already been told.

@n5 I heard it was 1 million , of course it's all nonsense as in Europe you have to go and meet with the unions before any layoffs happen , they are all very protected out there for sure !

@kk BB has figured out the system. He can lay off chunks of centralized functions without feeling the pain at his level for years to come. Just in time for him to exit with 10s of millions in stock, bonuses, and wages and spend the rest of his life on a Florida yacht enriched by wages stolen from the unwashed masses.

What a cushy job!

@bw I received messages that EHS in specific roles (not plant general EHS) such as water management types were getting let go but not engineers supervisors ananagers

@OP Plant closure will account for more than the other layoffs.

@az you are spot on. I’ve been selling my GESPP shares every time the stock hits $170. Don’t hold shares long or you’ll miss out. BB is a one trick pony and it won’t last

Bill knows that significant layoffs look bad and drive the share price down (not to mention, severance packages are expensive), so instead of laying people off we just make working at 3M worse and worse until people voluntarily leave.

By now, it's readily apparent that BB has a "plan" for 3M. Cut, cut more, spin off pieces, and then exit with a huge severance for himself. His buddies will get the CEO jobs at the spins.

PS, EHS, CRL, etc. are centralized functions. Easy Pickens for BB to slice another 5 to 10 percent off when he wants to have a write-off that gooses earnings (on paper only). Expect these every 6 months to avoid WARN notices.

As for the businesses, BB has a plan to close a few plants at a time, perhaps quarterly, and then claim "efficiencies" and removal of "redundancies" while careers are crushed in his grapes of wrath style wine press.

Whether fortunately or unfortunately, Wall Street has figured out that he is a one trick pony and the shares will trade sideways between 150 and 175. Time to cut your losses and unload your GESPP when it gets above 170.

The great 3M of the 20th century is on the way to being a trivia question on Jeopardy. Q: this defunct company invented Post It Notes.
