74,900 regular employees at the end of 2019. 71,000 at the end of 2018. 69,600 at the end of 2017. 71,100 at the end of 2016 and 73,500 at the end of 2015.
Difference between the end of 2017 and the end of 2019 employee-count is = 5,300.
Assuming a retiring population of 3% = ~2,000 per year, betwen end of 2017 and end of 2019, 4,000 employees would have retired.
The total employee count still went up by 5,300, which means 9,300 people were hired!
2016 saw the oil-price crash and company borrow billions to pay the dividend. What was the need for this hiring binge - to double the earnings?
All those laid off in 2020, will pay a partial price for this hiring frenzy! Poor planning, poor performance and poor execution in everything by the top-performers (aka decision makers) - in the end, they identify some as the bottom performers and PIP them!
Travesty!!
