Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

For the single dad asking…I was laid off and felt the total package was fairly decent but I don’t know if all are being treated the same so prefer not to share details here. For all, if you are laid off please realize that this is in no way a reflection of your worth. There’s a lot that goes into deciding who stays and who goes…your capabilities and value are way down the list of deciding factors. Take a long view…I bet most will be better off a few years down the road even tho the initial sting hurts.

@1imm+1pUJeZWd How long you were with Nike? Are they laying off based on rank ( like 35, 40) or tenure with the company?

If they drag this cr-p out through next year they’re going to do irreversible damage to the company. At least with CDA is was over with and done quick. This is some BS.

Reorg is probably going to happen. I have heard that Nike brought in a consulting firm that usually deals in reorg/layoffs and that duplicated roles need to be eliminated I.e. Sr dir reporting to a sr dir.

I was also let go today. Curious how many people? This is a real confidence knock and I haven’t heard of anyone else in my area. I had incredible feedback and delivered groundbreaking results and it still wasn’t enough to keep me.

Based on comments, my background is a direct tie to the new direction and they referenced a background I didn’t even have and suggested to look for future opportunities. You don’t even know your people? Too busy vying for your next promotion to learn how to lead?

@1kcy+1pUJeZWd, when NDP had layoffs before Thanksgiving, not all SDs and VPs knew what was coming. Some were in the dark ... because some were let go. SDs were let go on a Thursday, Directors and below let go the following Monday.

People in the org don't trust anything now and are scared, mad, sad. No trust for Leadership. Yet all are expected to dive right back in like nothing happened.

@1kcy - Sr D here and I know nothing nor do my directors. My fellow Sr Ds also seem to be in the dark. VPs calling all the shots as far as we can tell or it may be that my parent org isn’t going to do layoffs.

Part 1 I heard is Monday/Tuesday S band and above. Part 2 between Jan-Mar are the lower levels.

Director and senior director pretend they do not know. I think it is BS. I promise no one was able to get any job done today. Everyone spent their day in fear and tomorrow won't be any different. Rumors are layoffs continue till January and ever afterwards. Isn't it better to just have an honest conversation with people and let those affected know? At least the rest can focus on getting things done. It was a shot show today!

I was laid off today and told not to tell anyone out of respect for others who don’t know yet later this week.

Are there more being laid off this week? Why do I feel something is still happening this Friday????? How come no manager and no director know anything? Anyone has any information on who were let go? This is by far the worst torture an employer can have!

@1jxx+1pUJeZWd likely not personal (unless some bad manager felt threatened) since some of the people I know were incredible at their jobs, and reliable trustworthy partners who were well liked and brought us some huge successes.

Seems like another wrong move and huge loss for Nike on this one.

No, digital team supporting computational design for traction patterns/textures/knit, new tools, and additive 3D printing design within NXT. Also supported the broader company.

Re: company moving in a dif. direction…. Yeah toward contract workers who have half the benefits and half the pay. So ashamed of what’s going on. Used to be proud of Nike, now I can’t get away fast enough.
