Yup. Definitely not fake news. The only question now is if it's permanent or not. I believe something similar happened for a limited time with a mattress brand before although this is some pretty horrible timing for sears. If it's permanent I can't say I have much more hope for y'all. Back when I worked for sears whirlpool seemed to be our most dependable supplier of anyone. I expected Samsung or LG to be the first gone and I expected whirlpool to be the last...wow.

Correct it was announced yesterday that as of today whirlpool was being removed from the web site.... Now if the reps are right, by saying that Kenmore will be gone very soon ( because the sears team wont share this news with us) we as a company are done. Appliances are what keeps this company going, tools and tractors just help out, this company is done . We will just have to wait and see, if the reps are correct, expect to see the BK happen first week of Nov once Bruce has reached his last day and has become an outside trader of the sears stock. It will be official sears will be in BK

I can verify that the sears website no longer lists whirlpool items today that were previously available in store as of yesterday. If you believe this is fake news check for yourself!

@1msa it's on the company website Pebble, we have been told by our SGM and our DM, and although they aren't saying much the whirlpool reps are verifing it so how "Fake" can it be? Yes the article is old but it has nothing to do with this new news. Face facts it's real! It is happening!

@PQO0ORQ-1lap are you blind?

Tools and mattresses are everywhere, someone links an 11 year old article as “proof”- yes, fake news !

@PQO0ORQ-1adz Fake news? Heh, just goes along with the mattress vendor pulling out over the holiday earlier this year. And the tool vendors wanting to pull out with Eddie threatening lawsuits over their contracts... Get your head out of the sand!

What does Eddie want to focus on, tools, mattresses, and appliances.. and having supply issues with all of them doesn't bode well. Nothing fake about it, just the facts.

This thread is another example of the Fake News being posted on here that we are doomed. SMA’s will be gone, bankruptcy, All fake.

The same posters jump on people posting about the transformation accusing them of being fake, even when they post new current links to Prove what they are saying.

I swear this forum has turned into a bunch of people who are spreading sh@t because they’re

Shorting the stock.

It is entirely possible for whirlpool to stop supplying all brands except for the kenmore branded stuff. While it is a risk, it's not as big of a risk due to how kenmore sells vs other brands within sears stores. With all the conflicting info it's hard to tell what's right if you're not working for a store currently. If you are and you're unsure check pebble. If you aren't working for a store then you just have to take what info you can get here. This probably isn't your concern anyway.

ewswatch found out what the employees were told, and why 300 to 500 employees may lose their jobs.

While corporate headquarters stands on its position of there may be layoffs but no announcement has been made stance, workers are telling us they believe cuts are coming.

And in meetings Wednesday, they were told why. They tell us Whirlpool has lost its Sears line of product; that's 270,000 top mount units a year. And if they don't get that contract back, then cuts are most definitely coming.

Melinda Jones, a Whirlpool employee, says, "Whirlpool is refusing to sell Sears products anymore."

Drew asks, "So what does that mean for the employee - for you?"

"There's going to be a layoff," she replies.

According to what Newswatch has learned, Whirlpool, which makes 270,000 refrigerators a year for Sears, asked Sears to raise its price. But when the company refused, Whirlpool executives told Sears to find another company to build for them.

If that happens, workers in Evansville will lose jobs.

Melinda explains, "It depends on if they shut down day shift on line two; it will be 300 people. If they shut down second shift, it will be 500 people."

If that many people are laid off, it could have an affect on at least six plants and companies in the Tri-State that make plastics and rubber for Whirlpool.

Aaron Hill, a Whirlpool employee, says, "They're going to have to cut back their products. If we're not going to make any more refrigerators, we not going to need as many plastic parts."

Whirlpool does business with Jasper Rubbers, Spencer Plastics in Dale, two plastics companies in Henderson, including Atlantis Plastics, and Ryder Plastics in Evansville.

Hill says, "They're all going to have to do cutbacks, and they may not even know it yet."

But employees now know what's on the horizon, and they're expecting the worst to happen.

Gary Overton, a Whirlpool employee, explains, "My father retired from here. My brother, he still works here, you'd think they'd think more of their employees; I do, you know."

Whirlpool, by the way, bought Maytag earlier this year and also assumed that company's debt. Since then, they've close down three plants - now this.

The union representing the hourly workers says they were stunned by the news. That union, IUE Local 808 is holding an executive board meeting next week to decide what their options are. They're expecting an official announcement by Whirlpool by the end of the month if not sooner.

So what are the chances of Whirlpool getting its contract back with Sears?

Sources say Sears is now talking with GE and Electrolux about building its refrigerators. So unless something happens at 11 p.m. Wednesday, layoffs are eminent.

I am just relaying what can be said on a public forum. Kenmore/Kenmore Elite are fine for a while. If you don't believe me oh well.

I'm poster @1orz. Meant to say: Unless Sears pays Whirlpool in advance for every Kenmore-branded appliance that rolls out of their factories, which I doubt is the case, Whirlpool still faces considerable risk.

If Whirlpool is pulling out (and along with it, KitchenAid, Maytag and Amana), why would they continue to produce Kenmore? Why would Whirlpool stop supplying Sears with Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag and Amana but continue to ship Kenmore-branded appliances that they build?

If a supplier gets cold feet, they usually want to eliminate their risk completely. Unless Sears pays Whirlpool for every Kenmore-branded appliance that rolls out of their factories, which I doubt is the case, Whirlpool still faces considerable risk.

1zhh. Why are you so angry? All we were told was that it is the national brands from Whirlpool. Kenmore will continue to be produced for a while....nothing different there than usual.

I can't wait for all these people who keep saying this is FAKE NEWS you all will look pretty stupid when its all over the news and not to mention all over the sears PEBBLE right now , which is a rah rah site for the sears believers. This is all truth and once the gladiator product is gone , its gone no more coming in. tomorrow try to order something from them unless its already sitting at the TDC you can't order it . we were told to put it on the 991 table and get rid of it. Not to mention closer we get to Christmas the Kenmore like will be stopped also, that straight from the whirlpool rep himself.

Kenmore and Kenmore Elite appliances will be fine and still produced as normal. It was just the national brand part of Whirlpool not the private label part of Whirlpool.

The news is legit LOL. Why would someone bring fake news its also all over Pebble so yes this is truth. Smart move from Whirlpool all major suppliers should follow from them unless they want to end up screwed like a lot of vendors did in Sears Canada.

Holy s###! Whirlpool is #1 in appliances, especially if you count the Whirlpool-built Kenmore appliances.

Most of Kenmore laundry (except front loaders) are Whirlpool. Most Kenmore dishwashers and fridges are Whirlpool. Whirlpool has stuck with Sears since the beginning. This is a really big deal.

This is the potassium chloride, folks. Watch the clock, keep your fingers on the pulse. It's only a matter of time.

Speak with your store managers, this information is not #fakenews. SHC will no longer sell Whirlpool brand or any of it's brands such as Kitchenaid, Amana, Jenn-Air, etc. Whirlpool products will be removed from online by Sunday. Stores may sell the product they have on-hand and at distribution centers. No further products will be procured from Whirlpool. You can also see this information flowing on Pebble.

That doesn't make sense though. Why pull it off the floor? When sears stops selling things they get marked to 991... also whirlpool shows up online in my area and it shows I can pick it up and have it delivered.

Vendors change all the time for private label products. This is nothing new.

Kenmore vacuums have been made by Toshiba and Panasonic. Now they are made by other companies, including LG.
