Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

You Are Regressing Into Just Another Crappy Corporation

As a current State Farm employee who was impacted by the reorganization, Ive watch several of my friends leave or retire from The Farm. The choices the company gives are irrational. They’ve become a metrics based organization ever since Tipsord started putting his hands in the cookie jar.

And how’s that working for the Farm? It’s not. Claims have gone from a 3 day time service to a 3 week time service. Agents are passed around when calling with questions. Back in the day, State Farm was the company to work for.

Now they’re ranked three hundred and something on the top 500 Best Companies to work for list. Rather than being a progressive company, they are regressing into just another crappy corporation that doesn’t consider their employees as a valuable resource. But, rather rely on metric and the bottom line.

So, how’s that working out? Not well. People are cancelling policies in droves. Nice job Tipsord. Thanks for turning a great company into a less than mediocre one.

Tipsey has planted the seeds of discontent. That will be his legacy. Poor morale, lost talent and ever shrinking customer base.

They might try to implement six sigma, ITIL, CMM, or some other smarmy buzzword bs to turn things around. They tried ITIL about 7 years ago and it improved nothing.

Spot on.

Congrats, tipsord. You've singlehandedly destroyed a 96-year success. In 4 magical years.

Heard Tippy is stepping down after 1st qtr.

Wait, what? For real?

Why didn't this clown go a couple of years ago? Some of us might still have jobs.

A bit reminiscent of Sears and other now failed companies that frantically pushed every button and pulled every lever of change hoping that somehow they would make the right decision and magically make the company turn around. It didn't work. It just made them feel better that they were doing "something" and effecting change...when, in fact, they'd lost site of their core values and base ultimately resulting in their failure.

We all knew that Tippy was a numbers guy. Which is not a good fit for an insurance company. Heard Tippy is stepping down after 1st qtr. Thank God. Maybe someone can save the company that we love.

They aren't doing anything because they do not care.

hey @cze - it's BOD's design, therefore there is nothing they can do - it's their idea all along and they are executing so poorly its not even funny

the first step'd be firing the board

Going on everywhere OP.

Poke your head over the edge of your fishbowl and take a look around and you'll see the stuff going on at State Farm is going on literally everywhere.

The metrics are a desperate attempt at trying to gain efficiency. Tip for Tipsord: it’s not working.

It is so sad to be at SF and see the damage being done to morale and to the organization as a whole. Why isn't the Board of Directors doing something about this?
