Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Co Manager Update

CoManagers, Thank you for a job well done, thru the Holidays and the Year!

These changes are coming about after you have worked extremely hard long, hours and taken time away from your family through the Holidays! Also, after you have probably given up PTO and time off through the year as well.

This is very confidential Information, and all have been threatened that if there is a leak and they can find the individual, they will be terminated. WOW!! What transparency! Maybe the new leadership should learn the Culture! Respect for the Individual, be honest, forth coming and keep the open discussion environment. The UNVARNISHED TRUTH should work both ways and not just up! Maybe your Regional, Market or Store Manager should look to trust in you and tell you the truth if not is this the type of Company that you want to work for?

The Unvarnished Truth!!

  1. Meetings held last Friday with all Mkt Managers, Mkt Human Resource Managers and all Store Managers. (Remember the level of talent in these positions: Several have never run stores at the Market level, but will be making the decision for the future!)

a. Talent discussions were held on all CoManagers. Very subjective discussions and not a very

level set meeting. A lot of favoritism, and buddy system playing out.

b. Not all of the best were selected, a lot of good talent will be lost in this process and not even

be retained as assistant managers. What a drain on talent again.

c. CoManagers were banded within the following catagories:

RED - Not retained or gets immediate severance pay and no time to look for a job. If you

have a coaching then you will fall into this category.

YELLOW - You will get an option to demote to an assistant manager; or 60 days pay and

severence.

GREEN - You will be offered a position. It may not be in your current store; or 60 days pay

and severence.

  1. All Regionals held a conference call with all Mkt Teams, Store Managers, and CoManagers. Basically gave the WalMart talking points.

a. Not a long term position, must be actively applying for stores and has a 3 year longevity.

b. Store Volumes and placement of CoManagers:

$80 million to $90 million dollars in sales = 1 CoManager position

$90 million to $125 million dollars in sales = 2 CoManager positions

$125 million and above in sales dollars = 3 CoManager positions

  1. All levels of management have been through this process Divisionals, Regionals, Mkt Managers, and their counter parts in Asset Protection, Health & Wellness, and Human Resources. (Though most at the Regional level above were given preference options).

  2. All the 1700 Assistant Manager positions that will be added will be in Online Pickup and Grocery Pickup and will not be immediate.

  3. There were Regional Hiring events for assistant manager placement back in November and December. Why if they new that this was coming? This was not dreamed up after New Years.

  4. The week of Christmas there was information that came out in reference to the Policy change on Voluntary Demotion Request regarding Management. Wow there must be a lot looking to get out. Now this change.

You should always be prepared with a resume and the leave for a better opportunity. A lot will stay through this process and be caught up in the same process in future years. Use your time to better yourself and get out of this Company and go somewhere that you will be valued.

GOOD LUCK and WISH ALL WELL with the outcome and the process!!

I received my severance agreement today in Kentucky. I’m interested to see if anyone isn’t going to sign and go a different route such as with a lawyer. Not real sure what the positives are in doing that though.

Curious--what region are you in that you received your severance? I'm in the east and did not receive anything.

Thanks

I was offered a Conposition 500 miles from my current location. They needed an answer by Monday and if I said yes, I had to be in my new store by Saturday. I said no and so did someone else given the option to go to my store. Instead of giving me my job back they offered it to another displaced Co and offered me an ASM position. I regret it every day and wish I just walked and took the severance package. Oh and the company also wants to make sure I am not disgruntled...not at all 😝

Walmart one is still active for any terminated co. The reason the discrepancy on regular deposit vs a mailed pay check is due to immediate pay out states. This link explains what the deal is for your state.http://smallbusiness.findlaw.com/employment-law-and-human-resources/final-paycheck-laws-by-state.html The max PTO to be paid (roll over and accrued this year) is 5 days. To who ever said 30---it was written out they would be only paying a max of five. As for insurance this is what the document read:

Coverage for yourself and your dependent(s) ends on your last day of employment. However, you may be able to continue coverage under COBRA for you and/or your dependents. The severance packages were supposedly mailed on Thursday, I would think tomorrow we should be receiving them.

To the poster that posted “get over it”

If you are not going to be helpful to people that have real questions about their pay, then you should not respond at all. Why be negative and nasty to people who are already having a hard time with the blow they took? You need to check yourself before trying to check someone else...posting wrong info. SMH

Your correct my dates were incorrect, should have been 3/16-3/30. Thanks for the correction. And you are correct again, I am working on my pay because I’m not helpless and have no clue. With that said, the vast majority of displaced managers were qualified and did a good job, it’s the people posting on here that were ”Co Mangers” and don’t know the answers or worse don’t use the available resources to figure anything out on their own.

To the poster that said, among other things, "Get over it", when you can get something as simple as the dates correct, we may begin to take you serious. As far as people as like "poor victims", if their pay is inaccurate, they have a right to complain. Why are you working with payroll to correct your pay? Because it is yours. Get over yourself. Your condescending tone is not necessary to people looking for answers and support.

To clarify you pay for your final check, which you should get as a paper check, just like any GAIN that is done. Your check should be for 2 full weeks pay, 4/16-4/30. In addition to that you should receive 5 days PTO, equal to one weeks pay. PTO is accrued as you go, so your not owed anymore than the 5 days. Not 100% sure on insurance end date but it normally is paid in advance, so you should have coverage through April. You should get info on continuing insurance through Cobra, probably will come with severance packet along with how to roll over any 401k or stock purchase you have. I’ve been working with payroll to get my check corrected, you will need to do the same. Lastly, some of you act like poor victims “they don’t care about us”, that’s the reason your were given the boot. GET OVER IT.

Supposedly, severance is being mailed this week by region. Will be mailed FEDX like the bonus letters. Spoke with assoc. assist. number that was on the severance letter we got at our sit down.

So received normal pay. Pto showed $240. I assume that’s 1 day? Wasn’t expecting any pto payout, where does that come from. I would have had max days(23 yr assoc) plus any rollover from last year(had at least 14 days left from last year).

Also does anyone know when the severance will distribute?

As of this morning, I looked at my insurance coverage and it said active. So maybe we have another 2 weeks. Hopefully.

Yes I was wondering that same thing. If my insurance supposedly ended on 03/30/2018 then why was I charged again on my last paycheck? Seems like I’m being jipped! Also my last paycheck shows only PTO payout but no regular pay!! $0 dollars for regular pay! Where is my final paycheck from 03/16/18 to 03/30/2018. Are we supposed to receive a paper check? Seems like more of us displaced Co’s have more questions then answers. Shows how much we where really appreciated from the start which is why I chose to leave! Anyone with answers please let me know! Thanks!

Does anyone know how does the insurance work? I was charged the insurance on my last paycheck. Does that mean I’ll have insurance next 14 days or it’s post paid. Means this paycheck was the payment from March 16-30 ?

Anyone knows about it. If it’s for future then I need to fight my money back on the insurance

I too only received 1 week pay and 5 days PTO instead of the full 2 weeks pay plus PTO. After an, "I don't know" response from my MHRM, I emailed (because I want paper trail vs. verbal) the associate support center that was on our "Your position is no longer available to you" letter. I will update here if/when I get a response.

Your MHRM knows nothing, mine never returned calls when I was still working so I’m sure she won’t now.

I don't understand why some of us were paid for the last 2 weeks of the pay period AND 5 days PTO while some were paid 1 week pay and 5 days PTO. We were told we would be paid through March 30 and then also paid for 5 days of PTO. It looks like in some cases, they used that 5 days PTO to account for 1 week of pay so that you end up with a normal paycheck instead of getting paid your PTO on top of normal pay. Shorting some folks $1200. How could the final payout not be consistent? My MHRM knows nothing.

The final check should include regular pay from 4/16-4/30, 2 weeks. And any PTO they are paying out, which is 5 days. This is what I believe it should include, but mine is only pto and a 500 in regular pay. I’m not positive what is correct but either way it looks like there is discrepancies in different peoples amounts. Look at you check closely so you don’t get shorted any pay.

Final check will be your pto days. A manual check will be sent to you certified, which you should receive by Tuesday.

Does anyone know why the last paycheck says zero?

by

Post ID: @1ecbw+RfIyZGR

@RfIyZGR-1eiuz

PTO should be standard for most of all as you will only be paid max of 5 pto days.

I saw my pay stub it shows my Check value under deduction ( final paycheck ) but total value on the stub shows Zero? That means I’ll get a physical Check ?

Make sure to verify your PTO payout is correct on this last check. I was shorted 30 days so do the math and figure out the dollars.

Post ID: @1dsgy+RfIyZGR

so I was a Co who lost his position a few weeks later they called and offered me an ASM and I took it, now I am regretting it. I was offered a job at another company yesterday and I may take it but I lost my severance now. They had only given me 24 hours to make the decision for the ASM job. To those of you who didn't take it, good for you. I just don't feel the same about the company anymore

Does anyone know if every Co was supposed to be given an assessment, and or form to sign stating how far you are willing to travel? What about a requisition number for the “displaced co’s“. I’m trying to figure out if this was the company direction of how the process was supposed to be handled. Seems like some market teams made a real effort and some not so much. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Co Mgrs- As to the final severance check, Be ready for a letter stating you must sign then return. Once received it can take 4 to 6 weeks to send you your last check from Walmart. Don’t expect it to drop like your regular paycheck the last day. Call and demand your money!

When I was a loyal Walmart Blue Bleeding Associate working my way up from hourly to salary I never felt the disdain the world had for the company I had such allegiance to. I always heard you will one day know what we are talking about. It will then be to late you will have lost all the family holidays , vacations, birthdays, anniversary’s, and so much more you can never get them back. I did lose them all. I did however work my arse off and manage to be top of the box but I did not want the be a store manager so here I am. Displaced and waiting on my severance check and bonus. As they say when a door closes a window opens

We are still able to access our pay stubs on Walmart One I believe. I lost access to all my BYOD about 2 weeks after my last day. We should be able to view on a Sunday if a letter hasn’t come.
