Since I’m seeing a lot of salaries thrown around feel free to see how you compare to your peers. It is illegal to prevent sharing of salaries so no worries. Please post what you feel comfortable with - level, position, and base salary

Anyone saying their director told them this or that is flat out lying. They are not going to risk their jobs telling employees how these layoffs are going to be decided.
i'm not seeing many level 7/8's post their salary..why do older people think its so personal to talk about salary than the younger generation? I get that it used to be like a taboo thing to talk about but its 2019 that whole salary secret stuff things is stupid.
Agreed, it sounds like it's different for different teams.
i was told the opposite by my director that it was strictly performance and if too many people got let go from a team/org they would adjust as needed. But as this point who really knows...
We were told these are salary based cuts, not headcount in our area. Departments have to be below a certain salary threshold. How they get there is up to them.
Question...for those who see they are far below others pay, do you think they is an indicator they will be let go or should the very highly paid people on the same level be concerned?
Level 5 70k
7A Senior Design Engineer 25 years. $120K
@X9KJPTO-1lpx - started at 55k and with little to no pay raises
how in the world does a level 6 tester only make $71k base..what did you start at?
Level 6 .NET dev MI., not sure annual salary but I know I got 100.1k gross last year with the bonus
Level 6 Tester Base 71k 5 years Austin
Level 6 Tester Base 71k Austin
It's hard to fathom that a NCH (New College Hire) could make 100k or more! Especially in the Metro Detroit area. I have my Bachelor's in Engineering, 5+ years experience with Product and Mfg Engineering, 5+ experience in Project Management and 10+ experience in IT. And I am just at that level now. Must be doing something wrong.
6B, Engineer at MPG, $79k. 3 years of service.
NCH = New College Hire
NCG = New College Grad
To add to my recent post, I’ve listed leadership ranges as well:
Jr Developer 60-70k
Developer 70-90k
Sr Developer 90-110k
Architect 110-130k
Team Lead/Supervisor 80-100k
Group Manager 100-120k
Notice IT Architects with no direct reports can make more than their supervisor or manager!
For what it’s worth, I work in IT in the metro Detroit area for a large corporation and this our salary levels/range:
Jr Developer 60-70k
Developer 70-90k
Sr Developer 90-110k
Architect 110-130k
Most are determined by experience, not degrees or necessarily skills!
What’s NCH stand for?
I think this might be one of the more useful and important threads on here (and developments from this whole situation). It's useful information for people laid off to get a better idea of what their work is worth for when they look for a new job, and its useful for people that make the cut so they can see where they stand, if they are being underpaid, and if they'd even want to stay on after.
Really, ego aside, only GM benefits from us keeping our salaries to ourselves. Us sharing our salaries is something that should continue even after the layoffs are over. Who's ever left should at least feel confidant they are being paid fair and know why they make more or less than people of equal standing sitting right next to them.
Level 5. NCH. Data integrator. 95k salary. Manager was hitting on me and pressured HR to boost my salary. He put in a good word for me ;)
I know several of my peer NCHs that started well into the 70s with their masters degree. Now do the math of a 4-7% raise every 6 months for 3 years. However i have not heard of anyone starting out above mid 70s into the NCH program
you should tell your manager your right to discuss your salary information with your coworkers is protected by the federal government. The National Labor Relations Act states that employers can't ban the discussion of salary and working conditions among employees
My manager said you are not allowed to talk about this ESPECIALLY if you are a new college hire!
Lol. Of all the stuff posted here this is probably the thread that is causing more concern within GM management than any other. Whats next, union talk?
level 5. 90k starting. NCG
CEO here, $21.96 million.
They used to publish the salary for pay band in your CAP/Team GM payout. 2 years ago, 7B was 120k. You can work backwards and take a swag on the lower bands. Doubt any level 5 is making 100k. Any NCH posting 100k probably just graduated college and not only is immature, but doesn't know GM has payband.
Regardless, 100k for NCH is Silicone Valley type salary...Not GM, in a low cost of living area.
LVL 6 Finance, ~82k base, MI

Some of the 95+ Level 5's are trolling SMH
Level 5, starting 95k
.net developer
Austin IT
Location too please, since it is very relevant to your salary.
I get the feeling some of the level 5's are commenting their total compensation? 90-105k+ is what one would expect the base salary of a higher 6. Could be mistaken though...
level 5 dev. 105k base. 2.5 years NCG.
Lev 5 tester, 95k 2.5 years under the NCH
Level 5 developer. Started at 68k now at 84k. 2.5 years into NCH program.
