Just left Plano Fry's, same story as others below. We used to love walking along the aisle that had dozens of PC cases, just to look at them: gone. The motherboards area, gone. The Apple section, emptied. All the hard disk drives and cloud drives are gone. I always hated the PC salespeople trying to corner me for a sale, but it was sad: no one at the PC tables, most of which were empty, as if someone had broken in and stolen everything. Empty wireless router shelves.
We have a fun tradition of eating in the overpriced cafe: but it was emptier than usual and they had someone in there who did not know how to get things together to make us sandwiches. Board game shelves, empty. Very few DVD's, even. No background music, one single checkout person, no one in the customer service area, no exit receipt-checker. Still plenty of resistors and capacitors, though! Some Raspberry Pi cases and small robotics parts. UPS's gone. Almost no mice.
Like others, I remember the long lines, the full registers (a year or two back they opened up a whole extra row of registers during Christmas), the music and stocked shelves. A sad ending, if indeed this is the end for them.
