DXC CEO says he is hiring “KIDS”

Imagine what a Fortune 500 CIO would think of signing a contract with DXC where the implementation of a “ digital solution “ is based on new hires who the CEO calls kids???

This CEO is insane; insensitive; inept; incoherent.

The analysts listening to this don’t even question it which also tells you they don’t get it. Sad; but true.

Good luck to all those kids ( most are probably in India looking to get a job vs. sweeping dirty floors). ML says he is able to hire but what he doesn’t say is he is hiring people with no experience ( KIDS) at a low wage who don’t know much. Anybody can hire people with zero talent with no place to go. What a farce..... and the analysts don’t get it. For us still here; it’s just more of our CEO’s BS.

I thought that kids are goats! As a result DXC is full of monkeys, goats and decrepit people that belong in aged care (except management in general).

Playing into the hands of employment lawyers and class action possibly by admitting this WFR of older staff and replacing their jobs in lower cost centres / Kids - new starters / recent graduates.

There should be a mixture of "KIDS" and mature , experienced staff. This way new idea's are brought in while keeping true to real life best practice.

Remember we were KIDS once :) When I started it Data Processing I was taught how processes should be done, but it was pie in sky and wasn't done anywhere in real business, my mature team mates set me straight pretty quickly. But my pie in the sky was integrated into processes at a slow but constant rate. You know process improvement using manual and computer systems, what they call Digital now! Was doing that in the early 1980's, so nothing NEW here. #ISeeDXC

In 5 years time the hired kids will have become bored with DXC, and would have either resigned or more stupidly think that working at DXC is a job for life. However most likely ML would have left DXC too thus leaving the remaining management with a dilemma of dealing with loss of kids and loss of the incompetent Mikey. This shows that ML is only interested in short-term'ism as his retirement home at Palm Beach will need to be occupied 24x7x365.

Clearly the clueless shareholders must be IT illiterates that don't realize the problem that they have right now. Employing a bunch of inexperienced kids can only mean 1 thing ... falling revenues, less opportunities for growth and no training for the kids.

Mikey doesn't give a stuff about the age of employees, its not about age or anything.... what he actually means is he's looking for CHEAP LABOUR.

Those experienced people have accrued far too much salary and salary expectations over the years they have worked. They aren't good value for money (in his opinion).

As others point out here though, the customers come to DXC because they don't want to do IT for themselves. They come a supplier like DXC to acquire that skill on a short term basis. If you aren't offering skill, but just a bunch of no-hopers and inexperienced kids.... whats the point.

That's the trouble with paying too little for a service - be that Mikey or the clients themselves... you get what you pay for.

Using the word “KIDS” shows the shades of ageism . Not only to the younger staff , but subconsciously and indirectly to the older staff as well . God knows what he call the more mature staff.

It’s an insult to all the staff in general . To be part a professional corporation , you would think a CEO would realize that words matter .

I've just read through this Q4 transcript at Seeking Alpha, trying to stop my eyes glazing over in the process. If you read between the financial gobbledygook, it's evident Lawrie and Saleh actually still believe the waffle they're peddling. It's a clever dance to spin the investors, but for how much longer can they manipulate the figures through the smoke and mirrors?

Saleh mentions restructuring costs of $47 million towards "severance related to workforce optimization programs"; that's WFR costs to you and me. But Lawrie's final answer (the one that refers to kids) is really quite telling. Does he really believe inexperienced new graduates and low cost hires can deliver mature stable and secure solutions to customers on time and to budget? Of course he doesn't.

No customer wants suppliers to learn on their job, making costly mistakes along the way, and yet that's what's going to happen in this brave new world of DXC. Moreover, based on that new hire strategy, where is the evidence that DXC "adds value" between customers and partners such as AWS and Azure? Customer's will soon decide they need to cut out the middleman.

So my "value proposition" to Lawrie and Saleh is to k--l the WRF programs, and start valuing experienced employees, whilst you've still got some left!

Stock wise, the wheels are starting to come off. According to Wallet Investor, the bears are coming for DXC. Their stock price charts for the rest of the year and beyond look grim.

Lack of respect as simple as that. We all know that only young people understand that AWS and Azure thing. (sarcasm). I'm sure the 50+ are still working with the stuff they learned at school back in the 80's they never adapted. Cobol, IMS, Fortran, JCL, assembler. No, we come just too expensive and want to do things right the first time. My time is coming because I'm 50+

Everyone calls people 20 years younger than them kids. I imagine even cavemen did that.

@Zdx5aPT-1cep but them being gone is the plan - that way you don't need to give them a raise.

Use, abuse, fire, rehire.

No millennial worth their salt would stay at DXC more than a year, once they get past the bull**** given to them prior to hiring they'll be gone.

Reading through the investor call transcript, I am again amazed at all of the gibberish that spewed out of his mouth. You are almost pleading for it to be translated into English, and I'm not referring to the commonly used financial acronyms (EBIT, GAAP, etc.). Any employee using the term "wallet" to indicate gaining revenue or market share should have their employment terminated immediately. Even some of the analysts joined in the "fun".

Hiring kids just out of school with no experience in real life will be shocked when they find the out dated internal systems we have and the poor management style. After 6 months with no pay increases they will be gone.
