I'm extremely torn right now. I was just offered a job outside of VZW doing similar work starting at $5,000 less per year. The pay cut isn't too extreme and the benefits package is similar.
The pros for accepting this offer are job security (no looming 2.0 restructure), a set in stone Monday-Friday work week, which works better for me and my family, and travel as part of the training,
The cons are that I would be leaving tens of thousands of dollars on the table by not yet being vested in my 401k and losing out on STI's in February. The other big con is that I would be starting somewhere brand new after only being with Verizon for a year and a half. There's something to be said about stability.
I want (wanted?) VZW to be the place I retired from. I really believed that when I walked in day one. My new hire experience training happened during s unique time period. It was right before the VSP, Verizon 2.0, and the overall change in culture. My new hire trainer was one of the 44,000. He was instrumental in helping me believe in VZW and the amazing opportunities.
I could really just use outside perspective from other V teamers. What would you do if you were me?
